SIX MONTH INTERNSHIP
$40.00 per hour
Central San is a special district that provides wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal services; recycled water production and distribution; and household hazardous waste collection. These internships are 40-hours/week, Monday through Friday, unless otherwise noted, and located onsite in Martinez.
These temporary positions are a six-month commitment, starting in June 2024/July 2024 and ending in December 2024/January 2025. To be eligible, you must possess a valid California Driver's License and have a satisfactory driving record. The positions also require you to be a current student with junior or senior standing, or to have graduated within the past 12 months. These assignments provide an opportunity for students to apply their academic preparation to practical work experience in a wastewater utility environment.

Process Innovations and Efficiency
- This position will assist with testing an innovative biological process intensification technology at the pilot scale, other process optimization efforts, and treatment plant preliminary design and planning projects. Typical work includes engineering assistance with data collection, reviewing past project drawings and technical reports, literature review, developing presentations, and data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Central San is seeking environmental, civil, chemical, mechanical, or related engineering majors. Students should have knowledge of computer spreadsheet development, word processing, and basic physics and chemistry.
Applicant should have ability to organize work assignments; learn to use industry specific software; design and perform project specific tasks; write clear, concise reports; and aid personnel in any field work. Should have the ability to work independently, be self-motivated, patient, and respectful.
Additional Information
- Primarily looking for applicants to work a Monday-Friday 40-hour work week. Possible reduced work schedule (fewer than 40 hours/week) possible but will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
