Luna Labs, our technology development division headquartered in Charlottesville, Virginia, has built a diverse portfolio of innovative solutions and is working to commercialize the most promising ones. We are seeking a student intern to support ongoing interdisciplinary research projects focused on new product development. These products are being developed to improve materials test methods for transportation and monitor infrastructure assets to enable condition based maintenance.
Support experimental efforts in the field of materials science and corrosion and perform environment assisted cracking, coating evaluations, and electrochemical tests.
Perform analysis of experimental data using engineering software packages (e.g., OriginPro, MATLAB, Python) to improve our understanding of corrosion and materials degradation processes.
Expand job specific knowledge through training, on-the-job learning, and scientific study.
Promote a clean and safe lab environment
Upcoming college junior or senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
Software proficiencies: MATLAB, OriginPro, Java/Python/ C++ programming
Laboratory experience: Electrochemistry, acid etching, microscopy, and data analysis
Must be local to Charlottesville, VA
