Your Opportunity

Are you a student or upcoming graduate studying lighting design as part of an engineering or design program? Do you have a passion for design, sustainability and creative problem solving? Are you seeking an exciting job opportunity where you can experience the field of lighting design within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment?

Stantec's Lighting Design group offers talented professionals the opportunity to transform visions into designs that illuminate some of the most impressive buildings in the world. Our Denver office is currently seeking a student intern lighting designer to spend the summer working with our award-winning Lighting Design group. The candidate would be responsible for working on lighting designs, fixture selection, lighting controls, energy code compliance and all aspects of lighting design and documentation. The preferred candidate will be a self-starter that enjoys working collaboratively alongside other creative minds and problem solvers.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Producing lighting layouts in Revit

  • Photometric calculations utilizing AGI32 software

  • Energy code compliance calculations

  • Report writing

  • Developing presentation materials, renderings and graphic packages

  • Developing luminaire schedules and pulling product specification sheets

  • Develop and review mock-ups

  • Collaboration with design team

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Can-do approach to project work and assignments.

  • Competent knowledge of Revit.

  • Familiarity with BIM applications such as SketchUp, Enscape, Navisworks, Lumion, Rhino.

  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to research and present design options.

  • Strong prioritization and time-management skills.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Competent knowledge of and proficiency with AGI32, photometric toolbox and IES files.

Education and Experience

Students actively pursuing a 4-year degree in an accredited design or engineering program with a focus on lighting design.

You must be available for the entire duration of the program. What You Will Do During This Internship * You will have an exciting opportunity to work on interior design projects as a fully collaborative member of a design team, participating in design charrettes and learning sessions focused on delivering a successful project for our clients, large or small. * In addition to hands-on learning, you will experience educational sessions and mentorship opportunities that include lectures, project tours, vendor visits and a group project. * You will also enjoy the rich culture of our firm and the broader office community through a number of events Your Qualifications * You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design or related program; CIDA accredited program highly preferred * You have completed your third year of an undergraduate program or first year of a graduate program * You are returning to your program after the internship and will be graduating within one year * You submit an online portfolio that demonstrates design process and innovative design solutions (PDF format with 2-4 work samples) * Experience using Revit required, AutoCAD, and/or BIM modeling software a plus * Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) * 3-D computer rendering skills (SketchUp, 3ds Max, and/or other modeling software) * Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) * Hand sketching ability a plus How to Apply Submit an online application on Gensler.com/Careers, including a resume, cover letter, and portfolio, including work samples (PDF 10 MB max in total, or a link to your online portfolio).
