Position Information
Job Title Student Intern
The employee/student will assist the staff at the Alcorn Experiment Station and the Office of Operations. Their duties will involve both greenhouse, Experiment station, dairy and field management. Assist with research activities in connection with the Alcorn Experiment Station and the operation.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Strong attention to detail
Skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Knowledge of basic descriptive and inferential statistics preferred.
Outstanding interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.
Ability to identify and solve problems.
Ability to self-motivate and work independently.

Essential Job Functions
Responsible to model the University's and the School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence and respectful collaboration.
Prepare, manipulate, and manage extensive databases.
Facilitate gathering of materials and data for various projects and reports; write summaries of project findings as requested.
Provide assistance with the preparation of project-related reports, manuscripts, and presentations.
Obtain informed consent of research subjects.
Perform qualitative analysis and/or quantitative analyses of data, using computer software as applicable.
Verify the accuracy and validity of data entered in databases; correct any errors.
Prepare tables, graphs, fact sheets, and written reports summarizing research results.
Edit and submit protocols and other required research documentation.
Develop and implement research quality control procedures.
Research topical areas as requested including the completion of comprehensive literature and web searches.
Assist with mowing the grass and weed eating
Removing dead breaches, pruning and trimming
Qualifications
Dependable and able to work without constant oversight.
Knowledge of field preparation and greenhouse procedures, such as planting and harvesting all crops, managing plots and prepare tray for transplanting. Other skills and discipline-specific knowledge may be required depending on the project for which you will be conducting research.
Good interpersonal, customer relations, communication, and organizational skills.
Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office products and Internet.
Ability to complete projects by deadline.
Readiness to meet and work directly with faculty and staff.
Must dress appropriately for work environment
Must be able to follow directions and to carry out the duties assigned
Posted Salary Range $10.00 per hr
