What you will be doing:

As a Student Intern 1 with the DOT&PF Data Modernization and Innovation Division, you will support our administrative team and contribute to various research functions. This position offers a valuable opportunity for hands-on experience in data management, administrative support, and research activities within a dynamic and innovative environment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Scanning, copying, collating, stapling, and filing reports.

  • Clearing old documents from files.

  • Performing basic data entry of ICT (timesheets reporting) to reduce backlog.

  • Updating and maintaining personal timesheets to the newest version.

  • Scanning and filing divisional timesheet copies.

  • Reviewing department webpages for outdated publications and identifying pages for deletion.

  • Assisting with the distribution of incoming mail, both hard copy and digital.

By taking on these tasks, you will play a crucial role in supporting the division's efforts to modernize and innovate its data management practices.

Proof of enrollment in a recognized public, charter, vocational, correspondence, home, or private school program; academic good-standing equivalent to a cumulative grade-point average of 2.0, or higher; and, eligibility to receive a General Duties Work Permit from the Alaska Department of Labor & Workforce Development.

Special Note:

Academic transcripts will be construed as proof of enrollment.

Student Intern positions may be established and allocated to all job classes within the series. The interns are assigned and perform duties of progressive difficulty and complexity, under diminishing levels of supervision, as the intern successfully completes corresponding stages of the established training plan and evaluative criteria.

Vacancies may be filled at either job class depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The department may request reallocation to a higher job class when: the intern completes the approved multiple class training plan and evaluative criteria; the supervisor certifies that the intern has met the minimum qualifications for the higher job class; and, the incumbent is capable of performing at the higher level.
