Widener University is currently seeking a Student Inclusion and Belonging Coordinator. Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Coordinator provides programming support focused on diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) related activities, events and workshops for Widener University students. This position also assists the in recruitment programs and activities hosted by the Office of Admissions. This position requires a high volume of interaction with Widener University faculty, staff, students and individuals from diverse and under-represented populations.

This position is a 12-month position that will include some evenings and weekends and is primarily in-person during the academic year. This role may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement during non-academic periods.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

Essential Duties:

  • Create and implement programs, initiatives, services, and partnerships that support, assist, and empower all but especially historically underrepresented and/or historically marginalized students, staff, and faculty

  • Provide administrative support in all programming and team needs

  • Create and facilitating heritage month programming

  • Develop program calendar

  • Collaborate with and assist the assistant directors (2) as needed

  • Develop creative methods to engage students in the programs and services

  • Maintain social media accounts

  • Publicize and promote the programs, events and activities

  • Represent the office at campus recruitment events

  • Cultivate student leadership

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Serve on University committees as assigned

  • Support and assist with other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree required in Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration or related field;

  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience (preferably in higher education) working effectively with diverse student populations

  • 2 years of relevant experience related to diversity programming and developing successful cultural programs and initiatives within a multicultural environment

  • Ability to establish program priorities, monitor progress toward achieving program goals, and conduct assessments to evaluate program effectiveness

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and with individuals and groups of various identities, cultures, and backgrounds

  • Understanding of student development

  • Strong administrative and supervisory skills in addition to excellent time management and strong written and oral communication skills are required

  • Must be able to work independently and handle confidential and sensitive issues with diplomacy

  • Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

  • Experience in creating and delivering presentation to a diverse audience.

Preferred:

  • Experience in higher education

  • Experience in multicultural student affairs

  • Experience facilitating training and meetings

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:

  • Ability to work on computer for long periods of time (2+ hours)
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed to support programs and other student-centered events
