Looking for a change? Consider joining our Student Health & Counseling team. We are seeking individuals to assist students in changing and improving their lives and well-being. We are excited to expand our team to include two full-time counselors, a clinical case manager with a social work aspect, and a part-time family nurse practitioner. The mission of the Student Affairs Department is "we exist to serve students first"; therefore, being other-centered is critical.

Purpose of position: To provide mental health services to individual students and groups who are experiencing personal, professional, and/or educational concerns; provide outreach programming to the campus community; complete other projects as requested by the director and required by the priorities of the office. Actively participate in department and University in-services, meetings, and committees; as well as maintain awareness of current best practice guidelines through continuing education and professional development activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's Degree, Bachelor's Degree from a school of Social Work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (LMSW or LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LAPC or LPC) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).

  • Licensure required: Must hold or be eligible to receive a State of North Dakota license in counseling or social work.

  • Demonstrated expertise in counseling and psychotherapy skills with a wide range of diagnoses.

  • Excellent clinical, communication, collaboration, planning and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to flexibly manage the professional demands of a challenging workload while maintaining positive and healthy perspectives and relationships.

  • Three years' experience and skills in mental health counseling or outreach required as Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a college/university counseling center (practicum or internship experience is appropriate) preferred.

  • Graduation from an accredited mental health program (e.g., CACREP, APA).

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative to develop program ideas, and collaborate with colleagues.

  • Experience and commitment to working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide Mental Health services to University Students

  • Conduct intake interviews and conduct assessments as needed to facilitate therapy and treatment planning.

  • Facilitate groups as assigned and provide crisis intervention services as scheduled or needed.

  • Work out a treatment plan with client and continue with counseling/ psychotherapy until the case is terminated.

  • Consult with medical providers or other external parties as needed and refer clients when appropriate.

  • Non-Direct Clinical Service Activities

  • Keep records related to client contacts along timelines prescribed by director.

  • Engage in professional activities and professional development.

  • Attend Student Health Clinic & Counseling Services (SHCCS) staff meetings and participate with in-service presentations.

  • Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops related to professional development and in alignment to the responsibilities of licensure.

Please Note - Position is for 10 Month Contract

Salary Range is $42,000 - $46,000 D.O.E.
