Job Description:
The graphic design student assistant within the Dean of Students Office (DSO) is visually minded, a storyteller at heart, and energized by creative challenges and reimagining what's possible. This position will work alongside staff/student assistants to create captivating designs that showcase and support the Gator student experience and the DSO. The incumbent in this role will:
Ideate, pitch and create unique professional and innovative designs to be utilized on print publications, web graphics, promotional materials, digital signage, social media, and more.
Assist in and provide an educated voice in the planning, development and execution of marketing plans that meet the university and division brand standards.
Provide keen proofing skills for spelling, grammar and design consistency.
Ability to prepare artwork files for professional printing.
Maintain the organization of the DSO's design database and project dashboard.
Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers and vendors in an agency style work environment with both student and professional staff in the DSO and beyond.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Note: Dean of Students Office & Student life Marketing utilize Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva.
Expected Salary:
$12.00/Hr. (Moving to $13.00/Hr. starting 09/30/24)
Minimum Requirements:
Be registered in a UF degree seeking program for at least half time.
Be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the University with no repeated violations of the University Code of Student Conduct.
This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through Student Other Personnel Services (OPS) or Federal Work Study (FWS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Only be employed up to 20 hours a week in any on campus position.

Preferred Qualifications:
Have an interest in people and building positive relationships that make our department and the UF community better.
Possess solid photography and editing skills, as well as the ability to craft and maintain a consistent voice and tone with imagery.
Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and an eye for detail and accuracy.
An interest in thinking creatively, strategically, and collaboratively to aid in educating our community on the experiences and offerings available to enhance the UF experience.
Willing to work 8-12 hours per week.
