QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of three years successful experience commensurate with and applicable to the job responsibilities listed herein.

  • Social work experience, additional course work and counseling experience preferred.

  • Such other qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

The Student Facilitator/Advisor will work closely with students, parents and the community. The Facilitator/Advisor will enable students to overcome problems that impede learning and to assist them in making educational short-term and long-term goals that hold promise for their personal fulfillment and continued educational growth.

The Student Facilitator/Advisor plans activities to involve parents in their children's education, such as workshops on reading with children at home. The Student Facilitator/Advisor also develops plans to meet needs of individual students having difficulty, closely monitors attendance, makes home visits, and integrates community and school resources.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

10-month position

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated annually by the Building Principal.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as an outreach resource to students, family and staff in order to:

  • assist staff in dealing with classroom problems involving students

  • assist students in dealing with classroom problems related to curriculum or other areas

  • Provides students with educational advisory services.

  • Schedules and provides a systematic program of individual and group support and maintains detailed records, a daily log and other reports as required by building principals and other district personnel.

  • Provides community resources for outreach programs for students, individually and for class programs.

  • Develops a family support system and maintains a cooperative relationship with parents to include home visits.

  • Advises parents concerning the abilities, achievements, interests, aptitudes, school and personal problems as well as future plans of their children.

7.Collects and organizes information on the needs and problems of students as a basis for guidance and counseling services.

  • Serves as a resource for in-service training opportunities for teachers in areas related to self-esteem, values and discipline.

  • Collects & analyzes student attendance and provides interventions based upon student needs.

  • Develops and maintains a cooperative relationship with all other segments of the District's programs and services.

  • Participates in the District's school-community relations program, day and evening parent-teacher conferences and other District-community programs and activities.

  • Participates in the District's Initiatives centered on social emotional learning and mental health.


  1. Cooperates with local, state, and federal agencies and organizations both public and private, which offer guidance, counseling and other types of assistance to students and their families.

  2. Attends all activities appropriate to the role of Student Facilitator/Advisor and/or as directed by the building principal.

  3. Responsible for such other related duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor, the Superintendent of Schools or his designee.
