TITLE: Student Event Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Performing Arts Center
OPEN TO: Dominican University students
AVAILABLE: Fall 2024
HOURLY RATE: $14.00
The Student Event Assistant (SEA) is a key player in the Scheduling & Event Services Department. The SEA helps ensure the success of campus-wide events. They assist event coordinators in preparing for events and executing events.
The SEA's responsibilities at events can range from greeting & directing guests, being responsible for the presentation technology at events (mics, Power Point presentations), serving as a liaison between the client and various support departments.
Other duties and responsibilities include:
Collect, maintain and deliver event & equipment materials
Operation of event equipment including PAC equipment
Enter and track event information through established database
Assist departmental staff with clerical operations of the department
Qualifications:
Basic Computer Skills
(successful manipulation of Microsoft Office and Google Suite, Power up/update a computer system, basic sound function)
Communication Skills
(Hospitality and greeting skills, ability to verbally communicate effectively and professionally with guests and meet their basic needs (I.e. direct them to the restroom, answer questions about the event, etc.))
Team Work
(Effectively and clearly communicate with teammates to reach a common goal, understand and focus on a given task and execute in a positive and collaborative way that prioritizes the safety of your peers)
Problem Solving
(ability to use tools given and assess basic problems and find solutions)
Time Management
(ability to meet deadlines, keep a calendar of events, history of being on time for scheduled shifts,
Requirements:
Must be mature and responsible
Flexible with work hours; must be available to work evenings and weekends
Detail minded; able to follow-through on assignments with minimal supervision
Must be eligible for US Employment
Must be enrolled at least part-time as a degree-seeking undergraduate student
