SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT

Under the general director of the building or program administrator, the Student Engagement Advocate works with Open Doors, Virtual and/or ALE students and families in the district to ensure student engagement, academic progress, and social emotional support under the direction of the administrator. The Student Engagement Advocate tracks and monitors student data and student interventions to support student learning and success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work with students to develop an education and achievement plan to meet academic and/or post-secondary goals.

  • Collects and monitors student attendance, and progress monitors student's learning to develop and document interventions for students to remove barriers to success.

  • Ensure and document weekly contact.

  • Continuously review and improve intervention processes based on student outcomes.

  • Provides individual student reporting and assessment by:

  • Tracking the progress of individual students and school sub-groups as they progress toward graduation;

  • Conducting and analyzing on-going formative and summative evaluation data of program effectiveness;

  • Providing and submitting reports to the building administrator.

  • Maintain case management documentation for audit.

  • Conduct student information sessions/intakes into the school.

  • Collaborate with community partners to expand student access to opportunities.

  • Support student induction into the school.

  • Support students in learning academic skills:

  • Note Taking

  • Using online platforms

  • Study habits

  • Goal Setting/planning

  • Using resources to complete coursework; and

  • Other skills related to course progression.

  • Consults with individual students and/or families, thereby serving as an agent for positive education and/or personal change by:

  • Connecting individual students and their parents/guardians with community organizations and programs

  • Developing or working with local mentoring programs, business and/or community partners to connect individual students with mentors

  • Providing support and outreach to parents/guardians of students; and

  • Communicating student progress.

  • Conduct attendance interventions up to and including the truancy petition process.

  • Conduct home visits.

  • Collaborate with certificated teachers.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Services, or related fields OR

  • Associate of Arts degree in Education, Social Services, or related fields

  • One (1) year of demonstrated experience in an office setting using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)

  • Providing high-level customer service

  • Ability to use Microsoft software applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note) proficient and willing to learn other data management systems.

  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.

  • Ability to organize work, be dependable, and ability to complete tasks and meet deadlines in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Ability to file materials accurately and efficiently.

  • Ability to adhere to Clover Park School District policies and procedures.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of general office procedures.

  • Knowledge and ability to use office equipment, computers, telephone, copier, fax, and calculator.

  • Knowledge of HR policy, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act).

DESIRABLE QUALIFCATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Services, or related fields

Three (3) years of progressive, responsible experience within the human services field.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in office environment. Some travel to and between school sites may be necessary. Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms and to listen carefully and focus while filtering out normal office noise. Ability to see, hear, speak, walk, sit, stand, crouch, and reach. Moderate lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds. Reaching overhead and horizontally. Dexterity of fingers and hands to operate equipment and a computer keyboard. Some exposure to inclement weather may occur.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employee's responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed through an ESD prior to the first day of employment. Employees who are anticipated to work 630 hours during the school year (September 1 through August 31) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, long term disability and basic life insurance benefits.

Retirement and Deferred Compensation
