Job Summary

The Student Conduct Specialist focuses on case adjudication, case management, and campus education and outreach as outlined in and informed by the Student Code of Conduct and Academic Honesty policy. In addition, the Specialist develops and presents programs which promote student responsibility and civility and fosters the development of students as responsible members of the GGC community and informed citizens of the larger world around them.

Responsibilities

1 -

Investigate and adjudicate reports of alleged student and/or registered student organization misconduct; Conduct investigations of student conduct cases that may result in suspension or expulsion.

Provide timely due process to students while supporting and navigating students through the conduct process.

Coordinate marketing and outreach efforts for the Dean of Students Office.

Develop and present educational programming related to the Student Code of Conduct and Academic Honesty policy; facilitate classroom presentations regarding academic integrity and student conduct.

Assist with recruitment, training, and assessment of Student Integrity Board members; assist with the bi-annual review of the Student Code of Conduct and Academic Honesty policy.

Coordinate the Faculty Adjudication Process and processes faculty adjudication reports.

Assist with the updating and management of Dean of Students Office related website.

Provide timely and detailed conduct case reports to the Assistant Dean of Students; maintain accurate and up-to-date records of cases and proceedings in Maxient (Student Conduct Database).

Supervise graduate-level intern(s) and federal work study students; serve on Dean of Students, Student Affairs, and college-wide committees and task forces. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

4 Year / Bachelor's Degree

Education, Counseling, Psychology, Business Administration, education, or related field

Two or more years of work experience in a higher education setting

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate Degree

Social Work, Student Affairs Administration, Higher Education, Psychology, Counseling, or related field of study

Experience with student conduct procedures at the college/university level

Experience with, and understanding of, due process and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) related to student records

Experience with, and understanding of, student development theory

Mental Health First Aid or QPR Certifications

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge of computer software and programs used to design advertisements and flyers

Knowledge of the student conduct case management system (e.g. Maxient)

Skills in verbal and written communications

Skills in interpersonal communications

Skills in listening and problem-solving

Skills in time management

Skills in conflict resolution

Skills in case management

Ability to work with various groups of people

Ability to build positive and effective relationships

Ability to apply student development concepts when working with students and designing sanctions and programmatic efforts
