Position Summary:

The Student Center for Inclusion & Belonging (CIB) strives to uphold the Rollins College and Division of Student Affairs mission of educating students for global citizenship and responsible leadership, empowering graduates to pursue meaningful lives and productive careers. We create and foster learning environments for students to gain awareness of self and others, discover leadership as an action and value the responsibility to contribute positively to the campus and greater community. The Graduate Assistant works with the professional staff to create an inclusive and welcoming campus climate through programs that:

  • Celebrate Diverse Cultures and Identities

  • Advocate for students

  • Support Student Retention, Scholarship, and Success

  • Strengthen capacities for intercultural communication and connectedness

Anticipated Employment Dates: August 5, 2024 - May 6, 2025

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with the implementation of EMBARK student support programming

  • Help coordinate and communicate different opportunities for Latinx students, staff, and faculty

  • Assist with First Generation initiatives and programs

  • Collaborate with department staff and other constituents as appropriate on each event and attend planning meetings

  • Coordinate and advise undergraduate staff and volunteers

  • Assist with marketing for programs and activities in collaboration with student program coordinators and professional staff

  • Handle logistical arrangements for programs including facility scheduling and set up, catering, and tech services

  • Perform general office tasks such as answering phones and assisting visitors as needed

  • Answer inquiries or refer them to the appropriate person or office

  • Participate in departmental meetings

  • Attend and assist with the following events during the year unless there is a courses conflict: EMBARK orientation, new student orientation, Heritage Month Programming, EMBARK workshops and sessions, MLK Celebration Week, leadership retreats, and training and development workshops

All CIB employees are expected to adhere to Rollins College Service Excellence standards, as well as CIB departmental standards for Accountability and Responsibility, Interdependence and Teamwork, and Customer Service.

Scheduled Hours: The GA is responsible for dedicating 20 hours per week. The scheduled work hours will be arranged each semester in agreement with the supervisor(s) of this position, but we are hoping that most of the hours will fulfilled in person during the hours of 2:00p-7:00p on business days. Occasional work may take place during the weekend. Weeks off: Winter Break (4 weeks), Spring Break (1 week).

Work Environment: Office environment requiring sitting for extended periods of time, traveling across campus, and occasions bending/lifting/twisting.

Pay: The hourly pay rate is $16/hr. and there are no benefits associated with this position.

  • Student Development (especially psychosocial and cognitive)

  • Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives (such as including race, gender expression, sexual identity, religion and spirituality)

  • Need Assessment and Advocacy (for traditionally marginalized student populations)

  • Program Development

Education Requirement:

A student who is currently enrolled in a graduate program in Fall 2024. Part-time students not entering an internship during 2024- 2025 school year. Pending the hiring offer, new student employees (who have not worked at the college within the last two years) will need to complete new hire documents.
