Job Description:
The UF College of Medicine's Office of Research is seeking a motivated graduate or undergraduate student to join the team as a Student Assistant
About This Role
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support technical projects and initiatives within the Office of Research.
Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of data warehouse architecture to support data analytics and reporting needs.
Participate in the development and support of Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes for integrating diverse datasets from clinical and research sources.
Participate in the development and deployment of NLP (Natural Language Processing) and ML (Machine Learning) models for analyzing healthcare data and extracting insights.
Design and develop front-end interfaces and visualizations to facilitate data exploration and interpretation for researchers and stakeholders.
Implement scalable and efficient back-end solutions to support data processing, analysis, and storage requirements.
Conduct quality assurance testing to ensure the reliability and accuracy of technical solutions.
Monitor and optimize technical solutions for efficiency and performance.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of technical processes and procedures.
Foster collaboration and effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
Expected Salary:
$15.00 - $17.00 per hour
Minimum Requirements:
This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Preferred Qualifications:
Enrolled as a graduate or undergraduate student in a computer science or related field program at the University of Florida.
Proficiency in Python, JavaScript.
Experience with NLP and ML frameworks/libraries such as NLTK, spa
Cy, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
Familiarity with front-end technologies such as React or Angular
Proficiency in back-end development using frameworks such as Flask, Django, or Node.js.
Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
Strong understanding of data management principles and experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
Knowledge of data engineering principles and tools for data ingestion, transformation, and integration (e.g., Apache Kafka) is a plus.
Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new technologies and tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
