Job Description:

This position will assist the Bureau of Community Services with the MI Bridges Community Partnership Initiative. The primary duties will include assisting with the community partner registration process and training of the community partners. This position will also provide administrative support to the work area.

MDHHS is one of the largest of the executive branch departments. MDHHS is responsible for health policy and management of the state's health, mental health, and substance use care systems. For more information, visit: We are seeking college students for the Bureau of Audit, Reimbursement, and Quality Assurance division. Preference will be given to accounting majors. Related fields will also be considered. This internship is an unpaid internship opportunity with 1 opening for the Summer 2019 Semester (May through August 2019). Intern Responsibilities/Projects: Assist in conducting desk fiscal monitoring of Crime Victim Assistance Grant subrecipients to verify that subawards are used for authorized purposes, and in compliance with Federal statutes, regulations, and the terms and conditions of subawards. This will be accomplished by: * Reviewing accounting records of agencies to verify the accuracy and validity of transactions and expenditures reported to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. * Testing compliance with laws and regulations applicable to the Federal program reviewed. * Preparing and organizing relevant working papers in accordance with established work standards to support the applied procedures and conclusions reached. * Drafting letters that include the results of the fiscal review, including exceptions for non-compliance and recommendations for correction. Required Education and Experience At the time of internship, you must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program to be considered for the State of Michigan internship programs. A minimum of 16 Accounting/Auditing credits is required to qualify for this internship opportunity.
