Specialized Student Assistant Videographer / English Language Studies
The English Language Studies Department, part of the Schools of Public Engagement, seeks a reliable and motivated student to handle a variety of video and photography projects that include creation of promotional videos, shooting student events and editing footage in Adobe Premiere. Office experience is also important, as the assistant will help with a busy reception desk answering phones, responding to emails, maintaining calendars and answering students questions. The office is open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. Candidates who can start immediately are highly preferred.
The student assistant must be punctual and available to work occasional evening and weekend events. Candidates who can commit to working for at least 18 months or more are strongly preferred. Excellent writing, photography and video skills are essential. Along with your resume, a cover letter is mandatory and samples of your video and photography work are required. In your letter, please explain your interest in this position, your qualifications and the hours you are available to work a minimum of 15 hours a week is required. The pay rate is $17 an hour.
Videotape and photograph public and internal events, and work closely with department directors and staff to create media assets for educational and marketing purposes.
15 to 20 hours per week during the semester and more during winter, spring and summer breaks
Answering email and phone inquiries, providing excellent customer service to students, staff & faculty
Working closely with other university offices to troubleshoot student issues
Calendar management for department directors
Maintaining and updating electronic and paper files and databases
Creating flyers for meetings and events
Assisting with department events
Other duties as assigned
