Student Assistant: Instructional Support

Job Summary

The Support Assistant is primarily responsible for tutoring and providing skill support to LSSC students and community patrons to help them become independent learners and achieve academic success.

Responsible for demonstrating LSSC's values of Caring, Communicating, Collaborating and Celebrating.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assists in supporting peers and community patrons in recommended subject area(s) in on-line, face-to-face, and group settings.

• Continually improve subject area(s) knowledge and tutoring skills.

• Follows procedures and policies.

• Attends training sessions and compete professional development plan.

• Maintains work confidentiality.

• Assists students with course online learning system.

• Maintains cleanliness of the learning space.

• Assists students with resolving computer problems, as needed.

• Assists Instructors while they are proctoring Tests.

• Perform other duties as Assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Ability to learn new educational technology.

• Adaptable to change.

• Reliable, punctual, and follows directions well.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and other software applications as required.

• Excellent customer service through the ability to assist students.

• Ability to communicate with peers effectively and professionally.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Minimum Qualifications & Education

• Current LSSC student enrolled in at least 3 credits for the semester employed.

• Complete all required developmental courses.

• Complete at least 6 credit hours of college classes other than developmental courses.

• Minimum 2.5 GPA.

• Grade of A or B in tutoring subject area(s).

• Recommended by an instructor or other subject area expert for the subject in which they tutor.

These are part time student positions working at least 20 hours per week and do not offer benefits
