Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Student Assistant for the department of Neuroscience & Cell Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Student Assistant will provide support to other lab members relative to a wide range of ongoing studies of neuronal maturation.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Processing of fixed spinal cord and brain tissue- dissection, sectioning using vibratome and cryostat, immunostaining, imaging.

• Data analysis and troubleshooting of experiments as necessary.

• Molecular biology experiments including genotyping, molecular cloning, and plasmid design.

• Literature review and summarization of research related topics.

• Ensures cleanliness within laboratory and assists with maintenance of lab equipment.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Status Full Time Hours Per Week Daily Work Shift Day Work Arrangement

This position requires a fully on-site work arrangement.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

• Currently enrolled in graduate/undergraduate studies, or completion of graduate/undergraduate studies.

• Experience with mouse tissues handling, microscopy, basic data recording and analysis, and basic understanding of biology and genetics as they are key functions relative to this position.

Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred Qualifications Equipment Utilized

• Equipment specific to a N&CB laboratory.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Physical Demands: Ability to work in a lab environment.
