They are responsible for giving campus tours. They also assist counselors in reaching out to students by phone, as well as assist in all Visit Events. For these reasons, a Student Ambassador is someone who is personable and outgoing. They are well spoken and speak about the university positively. They are hardworking, reliable, punctual, and over all a strong campus leader.
Eligible students have to have completed at least one semester at Mars Hill. They also must have/maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5. Upon being nominated, a student will receive an application for the position. The student is not required to apply, but it is strongly encouraged. Applications will be reviewed and candidates will be considered for an interview. Interviews are the final step in the hiring process. Upon being hired, students will be trained as an Ambassador. If a student refuses or fails to complete the training process, they will be released from the position.
The hiring process for the Student Ambassador program takes place each spring semester. Admissions will call on faculty and staff to nominate candidates, candidates will be offered an application, applications will be reviewed, interviews conducted and students hired before leaving for the summer break. Students are not required to re-apply for the position every year. Once a student is hired, they remain a Student Ambassador until graduation, unless they resign or are released from the position."
