Description

Anderson University is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Student Activity Coordinator. As an integral member of the Center for Student Life and the Student Engagement office, the Student Activity Coordinator collaborates with students to plan and execute dynamic student-focused activities and events that cultivate learning and deepen belonging.

Roles and Responsibilities

Event Planning and Execution

  • Collaborating across the campus to plan and execute events and activities that engage a diverse population of students, including heritage events that create common experiences.

  • Oversee all social service and interest clubs and organizations by providing mentorship to club and organization leaders and ensuring all clubs and organizations are operating within the parameters of their charters.

  • Facilitate the identification of new club and organization opportunities and work with prospective club leaders and SGA to start new clubs and organizations as determined by student interest.

  • Communicating effectively with the Marketing and Communication and Student Communication departments to ensure timely promotion of all events.

  • Discover opportunities for co-curricular learning opportunities that partner with academic departments and faculty.

  • Assess the health of university-sanctioned clubs and organizations and the effectiveness of all events and activities regularly.

Leadership Development

  • Lead and support the student Campus Activities Board (CAB), including the annual selection and training of CAB employees.

  • Lead weekly meetings of the CAB team.

  • Lead, support, and mentor club and organization leaders through intentional meetings and check-ups.

Administration

  • Promote a welcoming and hospitable environment as an influential representative of Anderson University to students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders while maintaining a professional posture and work environment.

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Student Engagement Office.

  • Coordinate the hiring and onboarding of student employees.

Additional Responsibilities and Committee Assignment

  • Engage in the broader life of the university to create and nurture positive relationships between the Center for Student Life, Center for Intercultural Engagement, and other areas of the University.

  • Become an AU approved van driver in order to arrange and/or provide transportation for airport pick-up, drop-off, and other international student needs.

  • Attend the annual Center for Student Life Retreat.

  • Other duties and committees as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills

Required

  • Completion of a Bachelor's Degree

  • Experience collaborating with others to plan and execute events

  • Ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends

  • Willingness to honor institutional policies and guidelines

Highly Desired

  • Graduate degree in higher education or related field

  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience as professional or student in leading student activities

  • Proficiency with Google Suite
