The University of Texas Permian Basin's Office of Accounting welcomes applications for the position of Student Accounts Specialist
Salary Range
$35,000.00 depending on qualifications
Essential Functions
The Student Accounts Specialist processes financial transactions for student accounts and deposits for university departments. Provides information on a variety of topics related to student accounts in-person and via various communication methods including phone and email. Refers students to appropriate college resources and other departments to best resolve student issues.
Cashiering
Processing and Posting payments to student accounts by multiple forms of payment using multiple software systems.
Responsible for accurate and timely customer service to faculty, staff, students and other customers.
Balancing cash, checks, and credit cards daily and for random audits.
Identifying irregular transactions or balancing issues.
Organizing transactions at end of day close to balance.
Must follow cash handling procedures for the University.
Responds to telephone and email inquiries in a timely manner.
Research and Student Assistance
Research charges, payments, credits, and other transactions
Respond to student accounts requests via email, phone, or in person
Follow up with students to resolve student accounts issues and questions
Frequently communicate with other student facing departments on campus
Assist students with enrolling in payment plans, applying for book vouchers, obtaining parking permits, etc.
Additional Responsibilities
Request wire transfers and check reissues
Verify and mail student refund checks
Data entry for international and domestic payments and collections
Create group post transactions
Assist with verifying/reconciling book vouchers and private scholarship accounts
Required Qualifications
1.High school diploma
2.One (1) year or relevant work experience
2.Possess excellent administrative, communication and organizational skills
3.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft suite
Preferred Qualifications
1.Experience using PeopleSoft and/or TouchNet ERPs.

Schedule
Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.
Standard Working Conditions
1.Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
2.Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
3.Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
4.Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
5.Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
