Who You Are 

As the Structuring Manager, you will be responsible for driving contract negotiations for the Commercial organization.  

You have previous experience leading commercial contract negotiations and have successfully executed renewable energy off-take agreements, ISDAs, and PPAs. You are familiar with renewable energy commercial practices and possess a working knowledge of the evolving regulatory policies that are driving new growth in the energy market.  

Key duties in your role will include the following: 

  • Negotiate and manage multiple (2-3) complex sales transactions at a given time, including long term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with utilities and C/I customers. 
  • Cultivate relationships with potential counterparties and leverage your own book of strong client relationships across markets: multiple ISOs/RTOs, retailers, utilities (IOU, munis, and co-ops), and commercial and industrial clients. 
  • Build collaborative relationships with other teams within Scout, including Development, Finance, Interconnection, M&A, and Operations to solicit input during the solicitation process and to ensure adherence to contractual terms during project operations. Ensure deal structures minimize risk to the Scout organization while supporting the project financing arrangements. 
  • Create standard deal structures and pricing equations for revenue modeling to establish offer pricing to our off-takers. 
  • Support major negotiations through analysis and relationship management, with the intent of growing into a deal leader as time progresses 
  • Strong commercial skills that identify risks and closes deals (ABC: Always Be Closing). 
  • Participate in and support corporate initiatives. 
  • Advanced knowledge of power markets, customers and segments in North America 
  • Understanding of market concepts including: basis risk, power markets, hedging, losses, and congestion. Comfort with structuring contracts to manage these potential risks.  
  • Build strong customer relationships across organizational levels. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Advanced Degree desired 
  • 3-5 years of experience in power origination and management roles 
  • Specific experience originating, pricing, structuring, and analyzing physical and financial PPAs is required 
  • Experience with PPA transactions across multiple power markets, customers, and deal structure types 
  • Knowledge of and experience in over-the-counter forward markets, physical markets, and/or futures markets 
  • Ability to concisely frame issues by providing context, analysis, recommendations and risk/benefit tradeoffs, both in written, verbal, and presentation format, to project teams and to senior management. 
  • Driven, hard-working individual with high standards for self and others 
  • Reliable, resourceful and relentless attention to detail 
  • No travel restrictions up to 25% 
  • Expert with MS Excel and highly skilled with other MS Office products 

Timeline and Location 

A remote work arrangement will be considered for the right candidate and will involve regular travel to our Boulder office.

Benefits

Target base salary: $130,000 - $150,000
