Summary

Plans, lays out, positions, aligns, and fits together fabricated parts of structural metal products. Welds, tacks and assembles together metal components of products such as modules, structural steel, pipe racks and plate welding with electric arc-welding equipment by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Able to read isometric drawings and determine which specifications to use.

  • Must know how to properly set up and maintain welding machines and associated equipment for welding.

  • Must be able to inspect and operate all power tools associated with welding in a safe and productive manner.

  • Have good knowledge in industrial construction and characteristics of all equipment and functions related to the position.

  • Must be able to weld flat, vertical and overhead positions.

  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in a team environment.

  • Should have a positive attitude and be able to handle difficult and challenging situations.

  • Must be able to perform work in a safe manner that meets company and client standards.

  • Be able to identify hazardous or un safe situations and communicate to others.

  • Have the ability to adapt to changing work and environmental conditions.

  • Have willingness to take on other duties and help out other team members.

  • Must have strong knowledge of rigging.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

  • Minimum five (5) years experience as a structural welder required.

  • Minimum three (3) years North Slope specific experience in a related position required,

  • Must be able to pass structural welding test flat, vertical and overhead.

Summary This Remote Electrician maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, installs, and constructs industrial electrical equipment. All duties are to be performed in accordance with NMS' mission, vision, and values. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Helps plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and electrical codes. * Trouble shoots such electrical equipment as used in air handling systems, overhead cranes, fire detection, security systems, or alarm systems. * Performs infrared surveys. Test, maintains, and troubleshoots generators, UPS systems, inverters, battery charges and batteries, solid state controls including PLCs. Sets up, operates, interprets, and documents certain testing of electrical equipment. * Repairs major industrial devices in the power distribution area, PLC's including use of ladder diagrams and troubleshooting circuits controlled by PLC's, metal clad switch gear, breakers and protective devices including solid state controlled units. * Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit. * Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels. Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads. * Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement. * Attends daily safety tool box meetings and is required to do job safety evaluations for each job. * Notify supervisor is safety and sanitation standards are not being met. * This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned. Minimum Requirements * Must have at least six (6) years' experience as an electrical technician in the commercial and residential maintenance field. * Two (2) years of technical school or four (4) years apprenticeship program may be substituted for two years of the field experience. * Experience with troubleshooting and maintenance of fire detection systems and associated computer and UPS systems. * Experience with the troubleshooting and repair of electronic control systems related to kitchen, laundry, HVAC, and boiler room appliances and equipment. * Evidenced a knowledge of the National Electrical code as it pertains to electrical equipment in hazardous and classified areas. * A valid Alaskan electrician journeyman license. * A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy. * Must pass all pre-employment contract requirements which may include but are not limited to: hair follicle drug test, physical and fit for duty assessment and hearing test. Applicants not located near a testing facility are responsible for paying for travel to the nearest testing facility. * Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers and clients. * Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision. * Must be able to be on your feet for 11.5 hours per shift for the scheduled rotation. * Must be able to live in dormitory style settings and meet cleanliness requirements of the remote camp. * Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English. * Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client. CANDIDATES RESIDING OUTSIDE ANCHORAGE AREA: For the purposes of pre-employment testing, Anchorage will be considered the point of hire. Employee is responsible for any travel expenses and needed accommodations related to pre−employment tasks that need to be completed in Anchorage, AK. This includes, but is not limited to, any safety training requirements, required pre−employment testing and/or training such as physical, DOT physical/medical card, fit for duty, audiogram, and/or other testing required by contract/company (such as NSTC, APICC training, security licensing requirements, etc. Employee is responsible for reporting to point of hire (Anchorage, AK) for scheduled trips paid for by the company for remote locations. Physical requirements: Fit For Duty Test * Lift: Lift 50 lbs. from floor to knuckle x2 * Lift: Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist x 2 * Lift: Lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulders x 2 * Lift: Lift 10 lbs from floor to crown level x 2, * Carry: Carry 20 lbs. with two hands for a minimum distance of 20 feet. * Pull: Pull horizontally with a peak force of 90 f-lbs. with two hands. * Stoop & Twist: Perform alternate cross over toe touches x 5 each side, self-paced but continuous. * Squat Test: Functionally squat x 5, self-paced but continuous. * Kneel: Kneel on one knee and stand. Return to kneel on opposite knee. Repeat alternate kneeling sequence x 5 for each knee, self-pace but continuous. * Stairs: Climb up and down 12 steps x 20 for a total of 240 steps; * Allow 30 second rest after climbing up and down each set of 50 steps, self-paced. * Stairs & Carry: Climb up and down 12 steps x 20 for a total of 240 steps while carrying 20 lbs. in one hand and using the other hand to grasp a railing for safety, self-paced. * Allow a 30 second rest period after climbing up and down 48 steps while carrying. * Slanted Ladder: Climb a slanted ladder with 6 rungs x 10 repetitions for a total of 60 rungs, self-paced but continuous.
