Structural Welder 1St/2Nd Shift

Job Description Job Description Structural Welder (Flux Core, Mig, Tig, and Sub-Arc) Position Summary: Performs journeyman-level welding in the fabrication and repair of structures and other items.

Reports to department lead man. Primary Responsibilities: •\tPerforms all kinds of welding, brazing, and cutting on any type of metal using welding equipment. •\tReceives instructions, prints and work orders for job. •\tPerforms gas welding in all positions (down-hand vertical, overhand, etc.) •\tMakes any type and size weld, such as “V” lap, butt, etc., preheating parts when required. •\tClean, grinds and flame anneals parts and welded joints as required. •\tUses burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut material to size and shape. •\tMakes provisions for handling materials and equipment to and from job site as required in connection with work. •\tPerforms work requiring knowledge of the welding properties of various types of metals, welding rods, welding heats, stress relief, allowances for fit-up and machining, and the effect of shrinkage, warpage and expansion. •\tCleans and maintains working area in an orderly condition. •\tAbility to communicate at all levels of the operations. •\tMust be a leader who is self-motivated, a team player and results driven. •\tTo work overtime as requested. •\tPerforms other duties as assigned. Qualifications: •\tHigh school diploma or high school GED. •\tWelders must have considerable experience welding GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), and FCAW. •\tMust pass a vertical welding test. •\tAbility to work in a demanding, multi-task environment. •\tAbility to manipulate tools and assembly components involving fine and gross motor skills sufficient to demonstrate welding job tasks. •\tAbility to lift 40 pounds. •\tAbility to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb.
