Stantec is seeking a Civil-Structural Engineering Intern to support our California Civil Engineering team. We have opportunities in various California offices.

The ideal candidate will have interest in engineering design in the field of transportation structural engineering.

This position applies strong academic background in the field of civil engineering. The candidate must have interest in performing engineering problems and methods; and use advanced analysis techniques including the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines. Applicant must be capable of working effectively with teams and be willing to learn from peers and supervisors. Work products will include supporting design of transportation infrastructure projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as civil design support on medium to large engineering projects.

  • Participant on multidisciplinary teams in an office environment as well as in virtual team environment.

  • Support the preparation of studies, design reports, plans and specifications, and quality assurance reviews of related designs and construction plans.

  • Support the preliminary and detailed civil-structural analysis for transportation and infrastructure related projects.

  • Support the production of drawings and specifications to ensure technical accuracy.

  • Assist in project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, -and taking meeting minutes.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong willingness to learn and to be a part of a large global engineering company.

  • The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, multitasking ability, and excellent computer skills.

  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Microstation is an asset.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively independently and also as part of a team.

  • Some travel to local project sites may be required.

Education and Experience

  • Enrolled in bachelor's or master's degree program in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on structural engineering

  • No experience is required but is an asset

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • $21.91 Per Hour - $30.10 Per Hour Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
