Structural Engineer

Structural Engineers are responsible for consultation, investigation, evaluation and planning, design, design review and approval, and/or determination of environmental and safety impacts of work processes and products (including, but not limited to building, utilities, systems, sites, roads, and other infrastructures).


Engineering and Design (90%)

  • Use engineering software to draft, design, detail, and modify engineering project designs/plans utilizing firm specifications.

  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures.

  • Review designs for compliance with codes and specifications.

  • Clarify and resolve technical issues.

  • May provide technical assistance with proposals and presentations.

  • May write reports and memorandums and assist with project presentations to clients.

  • May assist the PM, as requested, in the preparation of cost information.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Administrative (10%)

  • Participate in team meetings, all staff meetings, and other planning sessions.

  • Participate in training and development activities as needed and directed by supervisor.

  • Perform administrative tasks including, but not limited to, time sheet completion, expense reports, completing correspondence, etc.

Technical Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science from an accredited university, required

  • Engineer In Training (EIT), preferred

Physical Qualifications

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time

  • Physical dexterity and ability to negotiate around a crowded and busy working office area, and around a crowded and busy working area, including construction sites

Reports to: Structural Engineering Supervisor

Learn More Here: Tasks and Qualifications: What You Will Be Doing In This Position: * Design supports for mechanical equipment including load analysis * Completes conveyor support layouts and specifies appropriate material and hardware * Create, review and revise installation drawings, as-built layouts and fabrication drawings * Prepare Bill of Material, connections and concrete anchor design * Structural frame analysis and platform design * Interface with field personnel to resolve installation and construction issues * Interacts with engineers of other disciplines to resolve complex technical issues as well as balance schedule and economy * Completes recommendations for ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfaction * Coordinates and engineers multiple tasks simultaneously * Performs full range of standard work for the professional field * Identifies and resolves complex problems and applies problem-solving skills in order to deal with most situations * Engages appropriate resources to resolve more complex or unusual problems What We Are Looking For: * Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Masters degree a plus * 2-5 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. * Structural Steel knowledge is a plus. * Experience with RISA 2D and/or RISA 3D is a plus.
