Your Opportunity

Stantec's Southern New England Transportation group has an immediate need for talented, team focused Structural Engineers with a minimum of 5 years of experience in bridge engineering and design. The positions are flexible in location between Burlington, Quincy, or Boston Massachusetts offices, as well as our Bedford, New Hampshire or Providence, Rhode Island offices. This position is for an individual with 5 years design experience looking to challenge themselves on a professional level on a variety of transportation projects. We are looking for Structural Engineers who excel in working in a team environment and have a passion for the work that they do. The successful candidates will join a growing team of transportation professionals and contribute to the design component of roadway and bridge projects throughout Massachusetts and New England.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • The majority of work will include bridge projects for departments of transportation and municipalities in New England.

  • Key duties include preparation of plans, specifications, design calculations, load ratings and cost estimates for DOT and Municipal clients.

  • Tasks would include but not be limited to performing bridge analysis, design and geometry calculations, developing drawings, and performing condition inspections and reports.

  • Position also entails preparing engineering reports and technical studies, and assisting on other projects, as needed, including construction phase services support and field work.

Your Credentials and Capabilities

  • Experience with MassDOT required

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and bridge engineering applications.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skill

  • Registered PE in the state of MA, preferred

  • Bridge inspection and load rating experience preferred

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

Minimum of 5 years of bridge engineering and design experience

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Stantec's New England Water practice is seeking a highly motivated Senior Civil or Environmental Engineer with extensive combined sewer overflow, wet weather and wastewater treatment plant engineering experience. This is an opportunity to work on some of the nation's largest and most innovative infrastructure projects. The position will be based in our Massachusetts or Rhode Island offices. Your Opportunity This consulting engineering role will require application of technical skills, project delivery, and leadership to an array of water quality improvement projects involving combined sewage overflow (CSO), wet-weather flow and wastewater treatment. The selected candidate will need to be affable, self-directed, capable of leading and supervising complex teams, eager to mentor staff and engage with clients, and should demonstrate a passion for involvement in water quality. Your Key Responsibilities * Lead and manage CSO, Wet Weather and Stormwater Infrastructure projects and lead multi-disciplinary teams through planning, design and construction. * Perform detailed planning of projects, oversight of execution of that plan and efficient project close-out. * Perform a client service management role to ensure ongoing quality of service. * Interact with clients, local and remote Stantec staff, permitting agencies and other consulting firms in the execution of engineering projects. * Provide technical leadership on projects including wet weather flow, hydraulics and hydrology, modeling and flow reduction. * Accountable for assuring that projects are staffed with the appropriate resources and skills sets to achieve project objectives. * Lead alternatives development and evaluation and preparation of engineering reports. * Supervise performance of engineering calculations and detailed design drawings and specifications. * Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior-level staff. * Coordinate with Group Leader and technical staff on issues related to pursuit selection, project staffing and review of technical work. * Participate in regional and national pursuits and work on projects outside the region. * Perform other duties as assigned. Your Capabilities and Credentials * Extensive experience with combined sewer overflow, wet and dry weather flow, hydrology, stormwater management, water quality issues, and ecology. * Experience with Program Management, Project Management and Project Technical Leadership. * Experience with Client Service and Client Account management. * Experience supporting or leading business development campaigns and strategic pursuits. * Ability to lead or participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought. * Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner, both in writing and in person, with clients, employees and visitors. Education and Experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering or related field. Licensed P.E. or the ability to obtain within 12 months.
