The Opportunity

We are currently seeking Structural Engineers to add to our team in Naperville, IL. The Structural Engineer

• Storage & Structures will apply theory, principles, and codes of structural engineering in designing and conceiving industrial steel structures designated to the storage of different materials (grains, feed, food & fertilizers) and at service of various AGI plant projects and equipment for the Global AGI market. This is a hybrid role.

The Team

This role will report directly to the Senior Director

• Global Product Management for Storage & Structures, and work in close coordination with the wider Global product management teams & relevant engineering teams on various projects.

Responsibilities

• Design of storages & steel structures according industry theories and applicable standards.

• Ensure the product safety & cost effectiveness by design conception & standardization principles.

• Understand, assess, and simplify engineering problems to treat the everyday business needs in a cost-effective manner.

• Carry out detailed FE analysis, in the linear and non-linear fields by the mean of the needed software.

• Provide dimensions, profiles, component & material specifications to the designers' team.

• Review/draft detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for products & project and to ensure conformance to specifications.

• Develop plans and estimate costs for the manufacturing of structures for projects & quoting purposes.

• Inspect project site and evaluate contractor work to detect design malfunctions and ensure conformance to design specifications and applicable codes.

• Prepare reports and document project activities and data.

• Respond in a timely manner to manufacturing plant, relevant suggestions, and complaints.

• Conduct materials test and analysis on prototypes using tools and equipment and applying engineering knowledge.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required. Master's Degree in Structural Engineering (preferred).

• 3+ years of steel structures design experience.

• PE License required.

• SE License preferred.

• Strong knowledge on software for FE analysis (RISA 3D, SAP200, STAAD Pro, RISA Section, CFS, Ansys)

• Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, AutoCAD, or similar required.

• Inventor 3D, AutoCAD 2D, and Vault preferred.

• Understanding and application of steel and building codes AISC and ASCE is essential.

• Ability to learn and work in a fast manner.

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

• Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, communication, and problem-solving ability.

• Ability to own personal development and gain an understanding of the equipment that we manufacture, how it is produced and why designs are made the way they are.
