TRC is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and experienced Structural Discipline Lead Engineer / Project Manager for our growing transportation practice in Pennsylvania. The position will be based in Mechanicsburg, PA or Pittsburgh, PA; however, remote options will be considered.

The ideal candidate will have experience working on PennDOT and PA Turnpike Commission projects and be enthusiastic in working with other engineers, project managers, and other technical staff assisting with planning, designing, and overseeing structural engineering projects focusing on the design of bridges and other structures, including culverts, slabs, and foundations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight, leadership, and guidance to the structural design group.

  • Provide financial and resource management for the structural related design tasks.

  • Provide project management that results in successful outcomes for the client, the company, and the staff.

  • Assist with development of scopes of work and price proposals.

  • Assist with Business Development activities (proposals, marketing meetings, professional organization involvement, etc).

  • Efficiently produce quality deliverables while meeting budget and schedules on multiple concurrent projects.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, clients, and public agencies.

  • Provide QA/QC, Constructability, or Value Engineering reviews on structural related projects.

  • Coach, mentor, and challenge staff.

  • Lead by example, demonstrating the attitudes and behaviors expected from others.

Position Requirements:

  • Fifteen (15) or more years of proven structural design experience.

  • S. Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural Focus)

  • Professional Engineer License (Pennsylvania) with the ability to obtain licenses in other states

  • PennDOT / PTC experience required.

  • NBIS Certified Bridge Inspector in Pennsylvania.

  • Knowledge of the Pennsylvania Transportation Market.

  • Experience with alternative delivery contract methods a plus.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Word and Excel.

  • Familiarity with PennDOT and AASHTO Design Standards is required.

  • Successful track record of Project Delivery through planning, preliminary and final design, including a proven track record and strong desire of providing superior client service and delivery.

  • Strong structural technical background and project experience.

  • Experience using PennDOT approved structural engineering design and analysis software to prepare engineering and design documents for TS&L studies, Preliminary Design, and Final Design of bridge projects.

  • Familiarity with PennDOT and AASHTO Design Standards is required.

  • Experience and proficiency in the design and analysis of new and the rehabilitation of prestressed concrete and structural steel bridges. Experience in the design of bridge elements including but not limited to bearings, deck joints, deck drainage, abutments, piers, culverts, and retaining walls.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be flexible, well organized, accountable and dependable.
