Structural Designer

Tesla is looking for a highly skilled Structural Designer/Drafter to be part of the Building Infrastructure Engineering Team at Gigafactory 1. Help create and optimize the factory of the future by bringing conceptual designs to life, producing innovative detailed designs of factory structural systems that are fully integrated with manufacturing processes. This is a permanent, full-time position located in Sparks, NV.

• Support the design and construction of new projects and renovations to existing industrial, manufacturing, and office facilities at Gigafactory Nevada and other Tesla Facilities
• Coordinate structural design on multidisciplinary project teams including Mechanical, Electrical, Piping/Plumbing (MEP) professionals
• Manage high-quality BIM (Revit) models, develop 3D engineering designs in Revit, and prepare plan drawings, section/elevations, installation details, and schedules for permit and construction
• Utilize and improve structural design standards by working with the BIM/CAD support team to achieve consistent results and incorporate new design into the existing facility models
• Assist with structural analysis and design of concrete and steel structures, including seismic design and justifying structural calculations
• Assist with the design of structural engineering solutions for existing building structure retrofits, design of equipment anchorages and assessment of existing site conditions
• Assist with structural design and analysis using discipline-specific programs such as RISA-2D, RISA-3D, Mathcad, and ETABS
• Degree in Civil, Structural Engineering or ITE drafting certificateor equivalent expereince
• Minimum 2 years of civil/structural drafting for building or industrial projects, or equivalent
• Experience developing BIM Content: Families - parametric, formula nested, type catalogs
• Expert knowledge of Revit Structural and proficiency with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight; prioritize and communicate assignments, and a willingness to work overtime to meet deadlines
• Able to multi-task and be flexible/adapt to rapidly changing project requirements/timelines
• Self-directed, highly motivated self-starter with solid writing and verbal communication skills
