Overview

  • To provide high quality technical assistance with exercise and non-exercise stress testing, complete application of Holdter and Event monitoring, Holter Scanning, and handle other duties as required or assigned

Responsibilities

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

PERFORM TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE IN COMPLETING EXERCISE AND NON-EXERCISE STRESS TESTS, ALONG WITH IDENTIFYING EKG ABNORMALITIES AND/OR ARRHYTHMIAS.

  • Correlate clinical history with exam to be performed and consults with physician as necessary

  • Accurate interpretation and clarification of physician's order

  • Applies holter and event monitors

  • Scans holter monitors and prepares the report for the physician to review

  • Follows the logical order of events in each procedure to anticipate sudden changes in patient condition

  • Complete patient log, requisitions, billing information and other paperwork as required

  • Correct charging of procedure

  • Proficiency in performing vena puncture

  • Proficiency in recognizing lethal arrhythmias

  • Knowledge of specific medications that are given by the tech under physician supervision during the procedure

  • Ability to operate stress and holter equipment, including the function of all controls affecting the qualtiy of the data displayed

  • Work proficiently with computers and software driven testing machines

  • Maintain equipment QI

  • Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot and report equipment failure

  • Perform stress tests (Pharmacological, Functional, and Cardiolite)

  • USES TIME, SUPPLIES AND OTHER RESOURCES PRODUCTIVELY TO PROMOTE RESPONSIVE AND COST EFFECTIVE CARE.

  • Completes work within assigned shift

  • Overtime used only when necessary

  • Prevents waste of supplies

  • Demonstrates ability to organize work with frequent interruptions

  • Uses slow time to work on additional tasks that will promote the efficiency of the department

  • Assists others in completing tasks

  • Willingly responds to requests for assistance from other team members

  • Participates in monitoring of PI process

  • IDENTIFIES AND PARTICIPATES IN QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS

  • Maintains current knowledge about equipment

  • Capable of reasonable troubleshooting

  • Correctly calibrates equipment on a daily basis and as needed

  • Updates knowledge as equipment changes are made

  • Stores equipment correctly

  • Checks and observes equipment for general safety

  • Ability to recognize electrical interference and how to avoid it's occurrence

  • Recorders and all patient cables maintained in excellent working condition

  • Performs QI checks on the equipment

  • Seeks out PI projects that will benefit quality patient care

  • Participate in Cardiology Division PI projects

  • Demonstrates a practical problem solving approach to patient moving and handling issues.

  • TO CONTINUE PROFESSIONAL GROWTH BY MAINTAINING KNOWLEDGE OF CURRENT TRENDS AND DEVELOPMENTS IN CARDIOLOGY, FULFILL MMCI AND DEPARTMENT MANDATORY EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS.

Qualifications

  • Education

Certificate Program in the field(s) of Preferred

  • Work Experience

  • . 1-3 years of experience in/with stress testing and working with EKGs is Preferred.

  • License and Certification

  • . CPR

Valid Driver's License in the state of ILOther: Proof of auto insurance.Additional Information: CPR Certification (can obtain during orientation period) and basic knowledge of reading EKG are required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Completion of an accredited nursing program. * 1-2 years ICU/Cardiac experience. * Current State license as a Registered Nurse. * ACLS required. * Demonstrate the critical care knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the unit(s). This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to work with patients receiving anesthesia during procedure. Work requires the interpersonal skills necessary to comfort family members and/or significant others; to communicate effectively and concisely with other infant care providers; and to instruct family members and/or significant others in home care procedures. * Work requires analytical ability necessary to assess infants' physical, psychological and social needs, develops individualized infant care plans. * Work requires after-hours Call and back-up call as well as the ability to critically think and function autonomously while on call. * May Circulate. * Monitors patient while in procedure, administers patient medications during procedure as ordered by physician.
