Job Description

Join our team as a Stress Engineer, responsible for laying out structural load paths for early conceptual designs to meet high-level requirements. Utilize first principle approaches with a strong knowledge of metallic and composite structures. Execute trade studies to consider various design solutions, ultimately selecting the most weight-efficient concepts that meet requirements. Collaborate in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment with design, fabrication, assembly, and other key functions.

• Experience with laying out structural load paths for early conceptual designs to meet high level requirements.

• First principle approaches with good general knowledge of metallic and composite structures.

• Experience with executing trade studies to consider various design solutions for downselect to most weight efficient concepts that meet requirements.

• Ability to work in an IPT environment with design, fabrication, assembly and other key functions.

• Experience with conceptual design first principles analysis approaches for primary composite structures.

• Experience with various composite structures failure modes and limitations and unique analysis methodologies associated with composites.

• Experience in creating, managing and running GFEM's (Global finite element models) that can be utilized by the entire stress team.

• Experience in creating and executing DFEM's (Detail Finite Element Models).

• Abilities to create simple working FEM's for conceptual design work to validate design principles.

Job Type

This is a contract position with a duration of 18 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Wichita, Kansas.

Work Environment

Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The role requires candidates to be onsite at our defense facility.
