Strength and Conditioning Coach for H2F Fort Polk, LouisianaReef Systems is looking for Strength and Conditioning Coaches to support the Armys Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) program for an upcoming contract at Fort Bragg/Fort Bliss/Fort Drum/Fort Polk/Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The coaches will develop strength and conditioning programs to maximize soldiers physical performance and reduce risk of injury, and will be integrated into H2F teams that include other healthcare professionals. The coaches will be assigned to designated brigades but may be required to travel with their units during training. One of the aims of the program is to provide forward musculoskeletal care, including injury prevention and early medical services outside a clinical setting.The Strength and Conditioning Coaches duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Developing, executing and recommending evidence-based, periodized strength and conditioning programs focused on unit mission and individual soldier tasks that are synchronized and integrated with unit training/operational schedule, battle rhythm, and culture.
  • Submitting strength and conditioning programs, with quantified training loads, for approval.
  • Tracking soldier/unit progression on a regular basis and recommending opportunities for H2F Program improvement.
  • Coaching and mentoring unit fitness leaders and Army master fitness trainers.
  • Providing guidance to soldiers and unit leadership on physical strength and conditioning and injury prevention in coordination with the H2F Performance Team.
  • Identifying and directing soldiers with an apparent new or undiagnosed medical condition to the appropriate medical professionals for evaluation and treatment.
  • Participating in quality assurance of the training programs to ensure they are aligned with industry standards.
  • Participating in periodic meetings to review H2F physical training programs and provide recommendations and feedback on soldier and unit progression.
  • Developing lines of communication within unit leadership, including participating in associated training and other meetings.
  • Ensuring safe and effective operation of equipment.
  • Coordinating scheduling of facilities for courses, training, and classes.
The Strength and Conditioning Coaches should have at least the following minimum qualifications:
  • A Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in an accredited exercise science, health science, or physical education-related discipline, but a Masters degree is highly preferred.
  • Certification by the NSCA as a CSCS or by the CSCCa as a SCCC.
  • Two years of work experience within the last five years developing and executing injury control and health/well-being programs for groups of athletes or Department of Defense/Department of Homeland Security/Department of Justice entities focused on a common sport or mission performance goal. Employment related to internships or graduate work is not considered relevant experience.
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS) for healthcare providers from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross with automated external defibrillator (AED) certification. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association or American Red Cross emblem. Web-based classes do not meet required standards.
  • U.S. citizenship (copy of birth certificate or naturalization papers required).
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English and effectively communicate.
  • Initiative, interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity to relate to a variety of soldiers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to operate a computer using Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel. Coaches will navigate and operate with unit SharePoint sites.
  • Ability to hike in an austere environment and terrain (e.g., rocky, no running water, no shelter, no bathroom, no climate control, inclement weather) while carrying a backpack with necessary supplies on occasion (less than 20% of the time).
  • Must be able to lift and manipulate loads and weight plates up to 45 pounds.
