Streetworks Technician

Essex Highways (EH) is responsible for managing and maintaining one of the largest highway networks in the country. EH is a delivery partnership between Essex County Council (ECC) and Ringway Jacobs. ?In this role you will work alongside our contractual partner to deliver highways services. Assist with the investigation and monitoring of streetworks, supporting and assisting with the co-ordination of a range of resources maximising opportunities to deliver our network management duty and safety for the travelling public.
The Role
Contribute to delivery of the Network Management Duty
To help in the operation of the Permit Scheme in accordance with Scheme Document and Section 3 of the Traffic Management Act.
Assist the Senior Streetworks Technician and other Senior Officers to ensure delivery of the Essex Highways and Essex Permit Scheme objectives, as defined in agreed service plans, in accordance with all council and Essex Highways standards and policies.
Responsible for ensuring that enquiries and complaints from members of the public, elected members, officers throughout the council and external agencies in relation to the service are responded to accurately and are within the required timescales.
To provide high quality responses to written enquiries where information is available electronically and to forward promptly to relevant officers within the Streetworks Team where further research is required.
Process Streetworks permit applications within requisite timescales and in accordance with good practice and legislation ensuring that the applicants are aware at all times of the status.
Job Description
About You
GCSE grades A-C/9-4 in Maths and English
Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Excel & Power BI
Excellent attention to detail, especially when financial reports are being read and reconciled for reporting purposes.
Ability to prioritise own work to support business priorities. Manages own performance and seeks feedback to improve where identified
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with key people both internally and externally
Ability to prioritise work to support business priorities
Ability to work in an ordered and logical manner, being able to prioritise conflicting tasks and demands
