Salary Range: $22.84 - $33.05 per hour
Hiring Range: $22.84 - $27.94 per hour
GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs a variety of skilled duties related to the construction, maintenance and repair of City roads and other City facilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Meet performance standards established with the employee's manager.
Job attendance is required, except for authorized leave.
Operates front-end loader in the removal, loading and transportation of asphalt, gravel, dirt, and other material related to maintenance and repair of City streets.
Assists with City cleanup/bulky waste removal.
Operates dump truck in the transportation of various materials related to construction and maintenance of City streets; transports asphalt or cement; refill area with new material and rolls asphalt with power roller; operates sweeper to clean streets.
Sweeps and shovels debris into trucks from gutters and grates; operates dump truck or loader in clearing snow and hauling debris, asphalt, sand and other materials.
May operate backhoe to dig holes and trenches to repair or install lines on a training basis.
Operates snowplow, and salt truck to clear road of snow and ice.
Operates street sweeper and water truck to clean gutters of dirt and leaves.
Maintain 24-hour emergency call.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
STREETS MAINTENANCE I
MINIMUM QUALIFICATONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; plus two (2) years' experience as an equipment operator performing the same or similar duties, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Qualifications:
Must possess and maintain a valid Utah Commercial Driver's License, Class B with tanker endorsement within six (6) months of hire date. This position will be subject to the random drug testing policy and periodic driver's license verifications.
Must possess a home telephone for emergency and standby call-outs.
Must live within 20 miles of the Midvale Public Works Facility.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of operating basic manual and power hand tools.
Working knowledge of the operation of a variety of light and heavy equipment such as rollers, backhoes, sweepers, salting trucks, snowplows, etc.
Considerable knowledge of hazards and safety precautions associated with road work.
Ability to follow simple instructions, ability to perform strenuous manual labor; ability to tolerate weather extremes in work environment.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to work effectively with fellow employees and the public.
Working Conditions: Employee(s) in this position perform in generally comfortable conditions involving intermittent sitting, standing, walking, stooping, and reaching. Tasks require physical activities working out of doors with exposure to various types of weather conditions, including potential weather extremes. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must consistently bend, lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Talking, hearing and seeing required in the normal course of performing the job. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity required to perform essential functions. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking and creative problem solving. Periodic local travel required in course of performing portions of job functions. Considerable exposure to stress as a result of human behavior, frequent deadlines, and the general demands of the position.

Must possess and maintain a valid Utah Commercial Driver's License, Class B with tanker endorsement. This position will be subject to the random drug testing policy and periodic driver's license verifications.
