Job Summary:

This position will serve as the liaison between the Strategy Office and Corporate Communications to support the internal and external communications needs of the Strategy Office. Applicant needs to demonstrate a proven experience in developing strategic communication plans and execution of those plans, have strong writing skills, presentation skills, communication skills and be able to demonstrate excellent judgment and critical thinking. Coordinates and gathers all information needed to execute on communication to internal stakeholders and work carefully with potential partners, external stakeholders and media. Help to advance information about the Strategy Office focus through communications at Cleveland Clinic.

Manages communications to supports institutional priorities, executive and special projects, and crisis communications. Manages and mentors the corporate communications team professionals. Researches, strategizes and garners media opportunities with a priority on national media.


  • Builds and fosters relationships with internal departments and national, international and local broadcast/print media.

  • Develops, writes and researches internal communications and press materials; news releases, media advisories, pitch letters and press kits.

  • Oversees and coordinates all national broadcast and print outreach or internal communications.

  • Develops messaging and trains/coaches key clinical and institutional spokespeople for external events and media interviews.

  • Manages corporate communications staff and develops annual key performance indicators for team members.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Serve as PR and Internal Communications manager liaison with the Strategy Office to identify and lead communication efforts both internally and externally.

  • Manages day-to-day relationship and communication with the Strategy Office, potential partners, media and internal stakeholders.

  • Works with Strategy office to identify information that needs to be communicated internally and externally.

  • Works closely with Corporate Communications Senior Director to forage new relationships with prospective contacts identified through the Strategy Office and works to build customized communications and communication plans to meet each identified priority area.

  • Develop strategic communication plans for the Strategy Office, including annual plans as well as on a project-by-project basis, as needed.

  • Build relationships with key external/internal stakeholder groups relevant to each focus area, to further the reputation and key priorities, including both media and non-media.

  • Develop and maintains daily contact within Strategy Office, as well as other internal stakeholders and collaborate with them on relevant projects/priorities.

  • Coordinate media and message training for key spokespeople and prepare them for interviews and speaking engagements.

  • Develop, write, research press materials including, but not limited to news releases, media advisories and pitch letters for local, regional and national media.

  • Identify key opportunities to advance the Cleveland Clinic strategy through internal communications through various internal communication channels including intranets, newsletters, emails, manager communications, etc.

  • Develop daily and long-term pitches for assigned areas/business units pertaining to breaking news, daily news and manage day-to-day reactive queries from internal and external entities, including but not limited to media outlets and internal communications.

  • Manages day-to-day execution and optimization of Strategy Office communications, ensuring timelines are adhered to and deliverables are met.

  • Respond to requests from media and others on a daily basis. Accompany media crews, reporters, photographers relating to Strategy Office initiatives.

  • Assist with special projects, major initiatives, under direction of director.


  • Bachelor's Degree public relations, communications, journalism, or closely related field.

  • Master's Degree preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of seven years of media relations, public relations or communications experience with minimum of two years pitching or influencing national media outlets.

  • Experience in internal and external communications preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, basic design and layout experience preferred.

  • Healthcare communications experience is a plus.

  • An additional six years of progressively responsible experience may offset degree requirement.

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.

  • Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.

  • May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.

  • Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

The CPO provides operational guidance and technology strategies for U.S. currency and coin supplied to depository institutions by the twelve Federal Reserve Banks. National Cash Automation (NCA) is the CPO's software development and support team. NCA is responsible for maintaining and improving the Federal Reserve System's cash operations suite of automation solutions. As our Product Manager, you will be responsible for following the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to develop and lead the execution of the product vision for one or more aspects of the FedCash Suite of applications. Product areas may include one or more of: external DI functionality via FedLine Cash, internal operational functionality related to our NextGen equipment program, external API product development, new product innovations, and all other aspects of our product suite.
