Job Description:

  • Capture Contract Research and Development (CRAD) to support IWSS' technology roadmap for current and next generation programs. Specific focus will be on supporting all Advanced RF and Directed Energy systems and Advanced Electronics. Additional supported programs include: all Surface Combatant Combat Systems and Launchers, Solid State Radar, and Future Vertical Lift activities.

  • Identify, qualify, pursue, and capture new business opportunities that advance next generation Lockheed Martin (LM) technology and increase Department of Defense warfighting capability. Specific focus on customer funded Science and Technology (S&T) and Research and Development (R&D) opportunities.

  • Establish, maintain, and expand relationships with government labs, acquisition customers, and warfighters to gain a detailed understanding of their near-, mid-, and long-term capability gaps and identify LM technology solutions.

  • Coordinate and lead cross-organization teams to mature LM and IWSS' Electronic Warfare, Directed Energy, Airborne Sensors, and Artificial Intelligence product offerings, develop prototypes, and shape next generation architectures.

  • Collaborate with IWSS Business Segments to position LM for mid- and long-term capture opportunities by driving future product strategies, investments, and partnering opportunities.

  • Integrate with LM's Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) to transition CRAD technologies into IWSS Programs of Record (Aegis Common Source Library, Ship Self Defense System, Component-Based Total-Ship System

  • 21st Century, Integrated Combat System, MK41 Vertical Launching System, SPY-1, SPY-6, Future Vertical Lift, and other franchise programs) and next generation programs.
  • Define and lead operational analysis efforts to identify and validate advanced system solutions to solve customer needs and fill capability gaps.

  • Manage New Business Fund accounts (Market Assist, Bid and Proposal, Internal Research and Development).

  • Develop, review, and execute capture and customer engagement plans in support of current and next generation opportunities.

  • Develop next generation strategies and proposals with Capture Managers, Program Managers, and Technical Subject Matter Experts and brief them to IWSS Executives and Rotary and Mission System Leadership.

  • Assist in development of product and technology roadmaps.

  • Conduct all business in strict compliance with all corporate command media and applicable state, federal, and international regulations.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of engineering, program management, business development, or military experience including experience with RF sensors, Electronic Warfare, Artificial Intelligence, Naval Combat Systems, and Distributed Architecture Technologies.

  • Experience working capture / S&T / prototyping / and production activities associated with advanced RF sensing, Directed Energy systems, and advanced electronics.

  • Experience shaping, capturing, and executing CRAD and S&T projects.

  • Experience analyzing DoD customer requirements, future warfighting needs, and identifying technology solutions.

  • Strong technical skills and the ability to synthesize a broad range of information to identify potential solutions to customer requirements.

  • Superior awareness of, and ability to effectively interact with, current and potential DOD customers.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer relationship skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work in cross-functional teams.
  • A high degree of flexibility and the ability to travel when required.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to operate with minimal guidance in a highly competitive environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly articulate strategies, technology capabilities, and warfighter benefits across multiple levels of internal LM and external Government Leaders.

This customer-facing professional will act as part of the Aegis BMD BD team to implement strategic and tactical actions to position LM for growth in the missile defense market. In doing so, the successful candidate will: * Serve as business development lead for IWSS's active Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Futures capture. In this role the successful candidate will join the core capture team responsible for customer engagements, definition of customer values and validation of those values. Candidate will also coordinate independent strategy events as well as internal milestone reviews. * Support and pursue strategies resulting in acquisition of Aegis Ashore sites, advancement of Aegis capabilities in new mission areas such as Layered Homeland Defense, development of advanced and next generation Aegis BMD capabilities, implementation of Aegis BMD in different form factors such as Aegis Expeditionary and virtualized instantiations, and acceleration and modernization of Aegis BMD ships to meet Missile Defense Review objectives. * Lead IWSS participation in business initiatives such as hypersonic defense, cruise missile defense, and integration of new effectors with the Aegis Weapon System. * Collaborate with E&T and Advanced Concepts organization supporting the development of 21st Century Warfighter solutions and transition efforts from internal investments to Program of Record. * Engage across MDA and Navy (PEO IWS, OPNAV) to cultivate relationships and develop Aegis BMD new business opportunities. * Build and maintain trusting and productive relationships with customers, influencers and key opinion leaders. Develop an understanding of Combatant Commander requirements and cultivate opportunities to address warfighter needs. * Manage Win Plan components, NBF resources, and Capture Team support for business development responsibilities. * Collaborate with IWSS Market Segments and various support functions to develop appropriate strategy, orders and investment plans and translate into actionable initiatives. * Interface regularly across the LM enterprise to achieve business goals - including but not limited to other RMS Lines of Business, other LM Business Areas, LM Government Affairs (LMGA), and the Corporate Engineering and Technology Office (CETO). * Provide timely and high-quality staff work, including but not limited to presentations, white papers, activity reports, meeting notes, call plans and trade show support. * Act as our external customers' advocate within LM.
