Strategic Supplier Management Specialist

The Senior Supplier Management Specialist serves as a subject matter expert in managing complex, enterprise-wide strategic supplier relationships and facilitates joint strategic planning, enables supplier innovation, and mitigates performance risk. This role drives maximum value and impact from the relationship, helping to enable business strategies to give clients the best chance at investment success.

The Senior Supplier Management Specialist:

• Performs strategic performance monitoring and reviews of key suppliers by interpreting and communicating contract requirements and scorecards to senior stakeholders verbally and in written executive communication.

• Negotiates multi-party performance improvements and enables innovation, collaborating with senior stakeholders and the supplier to develop remediation plans. Leverages the full enterprise relationship to identify and drive opportunities for impactful improvements.

• Resolves escalations and involves stakeholders as needed. Interfaces with other procurement teams, business leaders and legal & risk partners to develop and enable solutions to urgent, high exposure risk events.

• Facilitates strategic supplier relationship management activities for key relationships including conducting joint strategic planning and fostering supplier enabled innovation with the outcome goal of enabling business OKRs through suppliers.

• Helps create and promote supplier performance management standards at Vanguard including development and training. Collaborates to evolve technology requirements (e.g., ServiceNow, Oracle) to support supplier performance management.

• Collaborates across Vanguard to solution new ways of working to continuously improve the supplier strategic relationship management and performance management offering.

• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned (e.g., opportunities to gain experience in supplier diversity and sustainability initiatives, etc.).

What it takes:

• Strong executive presence, group facilitation & presentation skills. Collaborative negotiation skills & a solutioning, continuous improvement mindset.

• Demonstrated ability to successfully develop strong working relationships with senior management and key decision-making personnel in the client organization.

• Technology enhancement / product ownership experience leveraged in continuous enhancement of solutions to support business processes.

• Five years related work experience. Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
