Mainstream Engineering (ME)

Solid Edge Test Automation

As an intern in Mainstream Engineering, you will have the opportunity to work on our Solid Edge software, focused on the design and engineering needs of small and medium sized manufacturing businesses. Solid Edge develops solutions for creating virtual parts to emulate real-world mechanisms and machines, providing insight into a simulated manufacturing world. This ranges from bills of material, to physical properties, to interactions between parts. These capabilities are derived and maintained by our agile team, combining senior experience with fresh ideas, which you will help bring to life.

You will champion projects to:

  • Develop, maintain, and execute manual and automated test procedures (ATPs) using the Solid Edge Application Programming Interface (API)

  • Develop, maintain, and execute ATPs using tools developed for web-based applications

  • Develop, maintain, and execute manual test design specifications to ensure product functions as intended

  • Submit and maintain Problem Reports that identify software defects (bugs), documenting problems completely and accurately

  • Support and assist Project Test Engineers with various related tasks

Organizational Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or other related disciplines

  • Experience with Visual Basic, .net, Visual Studio, C++, Java, JavaScript, Perl, Ruby, or other programming languages

  • Knowledge about Jenkins, Selenium, Sauce Labs, or other web-based testing tools considered a plus

  • Eager to learn and desire to develop new knowledge and skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel PowerPoint)

  • Passionate, driven, and proactive

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to understand complex engineering problems

Mainstream Engineering (ME)

Connected Design Solutions

The Mainstream Segment focuses on the design and engineering needs of Small and Medium Sized Manufacturing businesses. We have established desktop products such as Solid Edge and FEMAP that serve these needs in several Manufacturing industry segments. The Connected Design Solutions team in the Mainstream Segment provides cloud-based functionality to augment functionality delivered through desktop products. Solutions are delivered in cloud-native form and as cloud-based applications connected to desktop products. Our team builds and operates these cloud-based services and solutions, and validates features for a web-based service, while operating in an agile scrum environment.

Organizational Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student majoring in Computer Science or related engineering field with prior coding experience

  • Prior AWS experience beneficial

  • Robust JavaScript coding

  • Comfortable with and interested in web-based client-server architecture and common web API models

  • Pre-junior status preferred

  • Capable of working in a highly collaborative environment

  • Able to quickly understand new concepts or ideas, research new technologies, and present findings in a regular status update

  • Passionate, driven, and proactive

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Effective organizational and time management skills

  • Desire to continuously improve and learn about new areas

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
