Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead team in establishing long term strategies for all key categories, in collaboration with multi-functional stakeholders

  • This role also comes with a category to manage. In addition to the people management aspect, it is expected that this person will be the leader of the plastics category from a strategic sourcing perspective, interfacing closely with the operational logistics organization

  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships ensure we understand the needs of the business, are supporting the Dexcom team to the absolute best of our ability, and are able to leverage support of other functions where needed

  • Ensure maximum value is achieved for every Dexcom dollar spent

  • Ensure yearly savings & avoidance targets are quantifiable, achieved, and independently verified with our finance partners

  • Build/maintain multi-year capacity roadmaps for all key suppliers always have a plan for what the next stage of Dexcom's growth looks like

  • Use a mix of quantitative & qualitative methods to identify & mitigate risks to the business

  • Maximize working capital through smart inventory programs & payment term policies

  • Establish operational objectives and work plans to meet the function's long term plans

  • Ensure team meets department budget, goals & objectives, and standards of work

  • Lead team to world-class level of sourcing execution & capability

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of strategic sourcing concepts & best practices

  • Strong knowledge of industry contract terms & practices

  • Ability to effectively influence others and manage sensitive situations

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, environment while being solid as a rock for your team

  • Ability to build a quantitative & qualitative business case, articulate it effectively, and get support from senior leadership

  • Proven track record of delivering results while working effectively cross-functionally

  • Mastery of Excel & PowerPoint

  • Knowledge and awareness spans all aspects of the specific functional area

  • Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and knowledge of company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways

  • Develops a proficiency of the company's business / market in order to inform decisions


  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals

  • Provides guidance to team members / supporting employees using established company policies

  • Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company


  • Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors

  • Follows process and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions

  • Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will add to costs and may impact the short-term goals of the organization

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field with 8-12 years related experience. 2-5 years of Lead or Management experience

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this area. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Language Skills:
Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

This position will support a variety of indirect commodities and functions including Human Resources, Professional Services, Finance, MRO, Engineering and Quality. This role will be responsible for closely working with internal stakeholders to understand the needs of the business to appropriately provide Procurement oversight / support. Responsibilities include sourcing / bidding projects and services, identifying risks and opportunities, reviewing, negotiating / executing agreements and all associated administrative tasks related with these activities. Provide on-going guidance to internal stakeholders including supplier management (scorecards, KPIs, milestone) and the development and execution of category plans for assigned areas of spend is required. Work must be performed in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and aligned with best industry practices. Required Skills: * Proven track record of delivering cost savings and handling multiple indirect categories. * Attention to detail, consistent follow through, ability to identify and drive global process improvements, coordinate between cross-functional teams, and be a great communicator to both external and internal stakeholders. * Demonstrates ability to combine data from multiple sources in order to draw conclusions and apply when making decisions. * Collects KPIs and actively manages Supplier performance including the ability to analyze Supplier financial risk profile. * Drives and monitors short term and long-term plans with Suppliers. * Supports supplier selection processes using facts and data e.g. performance trends, spend history, lead times, business requirements, KPIs. * Able to provide sourcing recommendations that are backed up with facts and data (Sustaining). * Routinely provides qualitative and quantitative supplier feedback in addition to scorecard to ensure supplier performance against KPI. * Able to analyze data and identify solutions based upon facts and data. * Demonstrate the ability to manage and solve complex business and contractual problems. * Must be able to apply contract lifecycle knowledge to various Indirect functions and be able to resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways. * Identifies and resolves various supplier management problems and contract non-compliance issues. * Contributes ideas and analysis to Manager to develop Procurement strategy and cost saving initiatives. * Performs supplier and market research from a variety of sources. * Develops relationships with suppliers and customers while maintaining the highest level of professional and ethical conduct. * Prepares spreadsheets that can communicate complex ideas. * Delivers on agreed upon, consensus-based decisions. * Handles more strategic challenges with confidence. * Seeks and welcomes feedback. Preferred Educational Background: * Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 2 years and a Master's degree.
