A Day in the Life
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist manages work in support of Medtronic Global Indirect Supply Management, in partnership with Sr Strategic Sourcing Manager. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently, with guidance to complete complex projects or resolve issues. They are fully competent in use of analytical tools, concepts and procedures. They identify problems, recommend solutions, and then take actions to resolve. Perform a variety of duties in support of Medtronic Global Indirect Supply Management contracts.
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for administration and maintenance of Medtronic Global Indirect Supply Management contracts. Provides contract information and interpretation to internal and external parties. Acts as a liaison between personnel from marketing, finance, operations, accounts payable, and human resources, to ensure prompt, efficient contract execution and payment to suppliers. Coordinates the filing of contracts, builds a pipeline for expiring contracts, researches and documents cost-saving opportunities.
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for partnering with Sr Strategic Sourcing Managers to support research and analyze spend trends and identify potential opportunities. Additionally, they will support commodity sourcing strategies in a timely manner, balancing the needs of all parties while maintaining internal and external relationships. The Strategic Sourcing Specialist must have a basic understanding of contracting and negotiation principles, concepts, and practices/standards as well as a track record of successfully applying such knowledge and practices in a fast-paced environment.
Provides financial analysis, project management and sourcing expertise to cross-functional, cross-divisional category teams.
Facilitates these teams in the development and execution of long-term strategies that will optimize Medtronic's position in terms of quality, cycle/response time, technology, risk, and total cost.
Mitigates risk, leverages technology and purchase power, improves processes, and reduces overall cost of ownership and acquisition.
Negotiates, establishes and monitors supplier agreements.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0+ years of experience
Is a Bachelor's degree required? Yes
Sourcing experience with any indirect commodity
Experience with high volume, low dollar buys
Knowledgeable with RFPs, contracts, negotiations, sourcing agreements
Experience with the Ariba Sourcing and RFP tool
Oral and written communication skills, and presentation skills needed.
