Strategic Sourcing (Procurement) Intern -Remote Position

The Intern program at CooperSurgical provides university students with the opportunity to participate in meaningful projects that contribute to the overall business unit objectives. In addition to the assigned projects, Interns are given the opportunity to participate in activities that encourage networking with peers, managers, and employees.

Essential Functions

• Assist Global Category Managers (GCM) and Supply Chain Engineers in the creation, execution and follow up of Request for Information and Request for Quotation (RFQ and RFI). Analyze supplier pricing proposals at a detail level utilizing MS Excel skills and created a summary of supplier's value add proposition.

• Working closely with suppliers; document description and condition of CooperSurgical owned assets in residence at Supplier's facilities.

• Partnering with GCM and site supply chain managers, analyze and assign category codes to purchased materials.

• Use analytical skills to assess top spend and year over year growth in assigned category of purchased material to identify opportunities for price negotiations.

• May visit supplier sites to assist in the evaluation of supplier capabilities and segmentation of supplier in category strategy.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Scope

• The candidate will be supporting the Strategic Sourcing team with global reach across the various procurement, supplier quality and engineering team members of CSI. They will work closely with suppliers via meetings and conference calls. The outcome of the assignment will help in the identification of best-in-class suppliers and identify potential cost reductions.

• Successful negotiations will yield cost improvement in purchased materials, enhance Product margins and have a favorable impact on the company P&L.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Intermediate skill in the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint, Power BI; advanced skills preferred.

• Well organized with attention to detail and ability to carry out tasks independently.

• Excellent project management, organizational and follow-through skill set.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skill.

• Professional demeanor.

Experience

• Not required, but prior Internship experience is a plus.

Education

• Current university student, majoring in Supply Chain, entering their Junior or Senior year.

• Completed course work in supply chain.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $20.00 and $24.00 per hour. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future.
