Job Overview

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist provides strategic Direction for the Aerospace, Defense, and Marine (ADM) division specific to the Electronic Commodity. He / She also has responsibility for supplier strategies to improve key performance indicators: quality, delivery, productivity, lead time, MOQ, and long-term contractual agreements to support ADM plant operations (internal customer). Additionally, he or she will help develop and execute the global electronic commodity (PCBs, PCBA, sub-assy products) strategy that minimizes the risks and ensures continuity of supply. Finally, he or she will be responsible for creating and leading project action plans and directing and training tactical supply chain and quality teams needed to achieve key measures and results.

What you'll be doing:

  • Identify and develop strategic suppliers with ties to goals for Productivity, Delivery, and Quality.

  • Drive cost savings activities, including: E-Sourcing (RFQ), Re-Sourcing (Negotiations), Engineering Changes (VA/VE), Commodity Management Strategies to reduce costs.

  • Maintain key PN and contractual records in local MRP systems with long term plans for supply chain buyers to use for tactical purchases

  • Includes scorecard reviews and strategic meetings.

  • Support annual re-cost efforts, including cost modeling and supplier cost analysis.

  • Approve all supplier cost increase requests, and drive submittal for review in ADM sourcing council.

  • Contribute to New Product Introduction (NPI) teams for RFQ, rapid prototyping, cost & make vs buy analysis, early supplier involvement, and DFMA through a stage gate process.

  • Present to executive leadership summaries on open issues and projects including action plans and time lines for completion.

  • Support transfer of new products from development.

  • Able to work independently on a variety of problems. Exercises judgment within established procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

  • Lead process to implement and maintain contracts, consignment and stocking program activities to support reduced lead times from suppliers. This also includes negotiating agreements with suppliers to hold and maintain raw material inventory

  • Travel up to 25% including international travel as required.

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain or business management required with minimum 5 years' experience. Operations and/or engineering experience with Electronic preferred.

  • Experience in "project-based" customers in low-volume / high-mix / highly regulated markets a plus.

  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of MRP systems, SAP preferred

  • Understanding of production methods and quality assurance methods.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs required.

  • Team player, hands-on attitude, empowerment culture, ability to work with little supervision.

  • Broad knowledge base of manufacturing principles, sourcing strategy development, practices and procedures

Job Overview TE Connectivity's Strategic Sourcing Teams develop and implement multi-year strategies for assigned commodities, suppliers and parts/services to achieve established goals in supplier quality, delivery, price and service. They align strategy and execution with cross-functional partners such as engineering, manufacturing, product management and functional owners. They execute the competitive bid, negotiation, contracting processes and/or technical continuous improvement for assigned commodities or services; collaborate across Business Units and cross-regions for optimal TE leverage. Our teams demonstrate a high level of expertise in procurement competencies (business/supply chain acumen, negotiation, sourcing strategy development and execution, global savvy, and project and product lifecycle management) and ensure results are delivered compliant with TE policies and procedures. Primary Responsibilities, Tasks & Deliverables • Negotiations with suppliers and internal customers on the strategy and best total cost of ownership. • Global and Regional RFQ and benchmark activity • Drive KPI improvement including STR, DLPM, Supplier consolidation and lead time reduction • Support the development of a global strategic supplier list that is technically and competitively advanced that it provides an advantage for TE. • Lead in supplier negotiations and selection. • Functional expert on commodity related issues such as part qualification, quality, delivery, cost, and development. • Drive new supplier development with a focus on best total cost of ownership. • Ensure lowest upfront cost by aiding in supplier and technical selection. • Work closely with Commodity Managers in the Business Units to support supplier negotiation strategies and ensure the sharing of best-practices • Work closely with BU Engineering teams over supplier selection and cost reduction through VA/VE and OMP activities. • Provide monthly KPI reports and gap closure plans to key stakeholders and senior management. • Drive innovation and building supplier strategic relationships. • Hold supplier QBRs. • Maintain accurate system data, such as commodity codes • Identify supplier risks, and actively manage, ensuring necessary actions are taken to mitigate the risks. • Help create and maintain the corporate strategy. • Support Supplier Material Compliance Management for PCB, Magnetics and EM • Develop & support supplier workshops What your background should look like: • Related PCB experience and technical knowledge on PCB will be beneficial. • Relevant electronics components experience will be beneficial. • Direct experience working at large electronic company (3 years minimum). • Strong analytical skills. • Strong working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint • Excellent oral and written communication skills demonstrated by the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and with suppliers. • Motivated employee who is not afraid to challenge company "norms" and push for change. • Action oriented, with high levels of accountability. • Ability to speak persuasively in front of a large audience. • Ability to manage both supplier and internal stakeholder relationships. • Experience managing demanding deadlines, and changing priorities • Ability to build strong business relationships with other functional areas to best support mutual objectives. • An employee who understands the direct material purchasing and the technical aspect of the commodities global business. • Must be a strong team player and work well in international teams with members from a wide array of functional backgrounds. • Time zone flexibility and an ability to travel (e.g. 20% mainly regional, with some global). • English language skills in speech and writing. • Completed, accredited 4-year university degree preferably Electrical Engineering, Business Administration or direct cable/electronic components experience of 5 years or more. • Computer knowledge: MS-Office.
