Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):
Responsible for the SMA buying team to expedite materials real-time to support high mix/low volume manufacturing; setting up Kanban and innovative logistics/supply models.
Development of vendors to ensure that all deliverables; cost, quality, technical support, process control, logistics and the overall service levels are achieved and ongoing improvements sustained
Managing commercial relationships with vendors
Facilitate cost reduction activities to reduce overall bill of materials costs
Developing information regarding critical suppliers including capacity & forecast and supply plans.
Alternative supplier source for materials and coordination of qualification plans with engineering teams for approval of new suppliers
Investigating alternative processes, technology offering and new suppliers internationally and benchmarking of suppliers as needed.
Responsible for reporting the Purchasing metrics to the business including: cost, supplier OTD, reject levels, payment terms etc. Preparation of cost forecast and budget information also required
Compiling risk assessment of materials and the supply chain and coordinating mitigation actions and improvements
Ensuring that business reviews are held regularly with critical suppliers and KPIs reviewed along with the necessary improvement actions
Conducting audits with the quality/engineering team at suppliers of processes and systems with risk assessment and improvement action plans & verification plans.
Documentation of visit reports and coordinating improvement actions
Ensuring that supply chain is compliant with Company policies and procedures plus relevant legislation regulations
Development and automation of data via ERP systems.
Responsibility for the non-conforming materials, rejects and the returns process and assisting with implementation of corrective actions with suppliers.
Liaise with engineering department to ensure design for manufacture and supply capability
Manage procurement of large capital projects
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Accounting, Logistics or a related discipline
Five to seven (5 to 7) years of experience within Purchasing, quality or manufacturing management in a technical manufacturing environment.
Experience within high mix/ low volume manufacturing with sourcing expertise in electromechanical components
Experience and knowledge of global supply chain management
Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication, negotiation, and technical skills.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access).
Experience working with business intelligence and supply chain software.
Familiarity with ISO9001-2015 standards is preferred
American Production Inventory Certification Society (APICS) or Institute for Supply Management (ISM) certification is preferred.
