As the Director of BizOps and Strategy you are leading and supporting this very key area that is at the heart of this evolution and transformation by being part of the Shared Services division, Global Business Services (GBS), which is the broader central function within Wolters Kluwer. Your strong quantitative analytical skills with logical approach and strategic mindset, meticulous data analysis and the ability to present and deliver eloquently using intriguing reference points will be what guides continuous optimum outcome

This is a hybrid position (3 days a week) in New York City and will report to the Director, Strategic Initiatives

Required Job Qualifications (Minimum):

  • Experience: Minimum 7+ years of direct experience in Strategy or Program management.

  • Prior work experience in an internal Strategy role, or Management Consulting required

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and programs through teams without a direct reporting line

  • Demonstrated ability to take recommendations and operationalize them

  • Ability to appropriately manage expectations across scoped and proposed projects and related stakeholders.

  • Education: bachelor's degree in business/economics/ engineering or equivalent discipline with a rigorous analytical component. Preferred Masters in Business

  • Travel Requirements: Less than 20% and only when absolutely needed for specific projects

  • Experience: Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously from conception to completion in a demanding environment

  • Entrepreneurial, resourceful, and persistent; flexible and adaptive to changing priorities with a positive "can do" attitude.

  • High emotional intelligence and humility; able to recognize and respond to the needs of the organization and the team while giving actionable feedback to all levels of the company.

  • A proven track record of effective collaboration across a complex, diverse and geographically distributed organization.

  • Change Management Experience and certification a strong plus.

What makes this team unique?

This team helps provide thought leadership to identify, assess, implement, and manage various aspects of a rich pipeline of operational improvements across the organization. It also helps manage the change agenda prioritizing opportunities, analyzing options, engaging with vendors, and coordinating with the technology, finance, and strategic sourcing groups to execute the different initiatives. This team becomes engaged in all aspects of these initiatives: from opportunity identification and creative brainstorming on options, to business case development, program/project management, oversight, monitoring and communications. You can be a part of this journey! There is no "typical" day for any member of the BizOps & Strategy team. Depending on the opportunity area being addressed, the activities span - data analysis, interviewing internal and external experts, identifying new opportunities to improve service levels and/or operational costs, leading and participating in brainstorming sessions, operationalizing identified circumstances, creating strategic plans, designing, launching and monitoring pilot projects, and in general, helping improve the effectiveness and efficiency of every function/focus area you touch through a hard view on tangible KPIs and then full cycle to execution and beyond.

Combining leadership and directives; What you will be building and focusing on with your incredible team:

You will joining a team that is helping to drive GBS strategy, spearhead strategic projects, manage the group's monthly reporting and occasionally augment various teams with their skills and expertise. You will also manage the GBS annual operating calendar including monthly Management Committee meetings, Annual VSP (Vision & Strategic Planning) cycle, periodic Divisional & BU leadership connects, Annual budget, plus more. You and your team will be managing deliverables, timelines, and tasks in a cross-functional collaborative manner; collaborating very closely with leaders of all functions within the group to develop, assess, and refine annual deliverables and lead efforts to track, analyze, and report on progress made against those deliverables.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support annual VSP (Vision Strategy and Planning) cycle

  • Organize monthly Management Committee meetings including setting agenda (in coordination with Director, Strategic Initiatives, EVP BizOps, Sourcing & Strategy and CEO GBS), audience for specific topics, and driving action on follow-ups.

  • Provide leadership, strategic and tactical support for GBS and Enterprise-wide special strategic initiatives

  • Develop a working understanding of various BizOps and Sourcing functions, to provide strategic support and if needed, operational support & leadership in interim situations

  • Track and report on progress, accomplishments, and key risks for all functions within Business Operations, Sourcing & Strategy groups

  • Coordinate with all functional owners to build periodic reports for different audiences - including to the group CEO, group Management Committee and the Executive Board

  • Work closely with group head on defining the appropriate metrics and KPIs for each operational area

  • Monitor progress against defined metrics and raise concerns with group head to ensure the right alignment /actions

  • Assist in design and program manage key transformation initiatives

  • Provide transparency to group head with respect to project and portfolio issues, risks, and recommend/implement strategies for effective and efficient operations.

  • Troubleshoot and drive project issues and challenges to a successful completion/conclusion

  • Organize executive level presentation materials to provide high level reporting and status across all managed initiatives and activities

  • Facilitate the timely flow of accurate information across work streams and stakeholders.

  • Serve, across the organization, as a mentor and subject matter expert.
