PURPOSE OF JOB: The Strategic Data Analyst will integrate, clean, shape, and analyze large amounts of data from clinical, claims, and other data sources to provide high-value insights that enable the design, targeting, implementation, and spread of more effective models of care for vulnerable populations. The data scientist will design analyses, apply appropriate statistical methods, and effectively summarize and communicate key findings in written form and in visual displays. Analyses will support the targeting, implementation, and evaluation of the impact of population health initiatives such as deployment of evidence-based practice, care coordination and complex care management. The data scientist designs and implements user accessible, data and visually rich dashboards that are used to improve health system performance.
Works closely with key stakeholders at all levels of the organization to identify reporting and analysis needs. Provides guidance regarding report design, data visualization and interpretation of statistical results. Presents analysis results to stakeholders through documents and presentations. (20%)
Designs, develops, manages, improves and maintains current analytic dashboards/applications that include statistical process control and other statistical / analytic content which supports enterprise, client, contractual, research, or other initiatives. (20%)
Performs activities related to statistical data analysis, trending, data presentation and benchmarking in order to provide decision support at senior management levels. (20%)
Develops logic and programming to clean, transform and normalize data from disparate sources to ensure data consistency and integrity (10%).
Designs, develops, and analyzes key performance indicator dashboards at various levels - clinically or demographically defined subpopulation, client, contract, or geographic region. (10%)
Encodes, tests, debugs and documents programs for report creation and deployment to users. Ensures accuracy of source data, database and report content. (10%)
Works collaboratively with IT (in-house and vendor resources) to optimize technology to continually improve efficiency and accuracy of reporting and analytic products. (10%)
Advanced degree in mathematics, computer science, information systems, data science, statistics, public health, epidemiology, or equivalent.
5+ years healthcare experience in related health care analytics.
Strong statistical background.
Experience with healthcare claims data preferred.
Proficient with advanced SQL programming technique (e.g., stored procedures, triggers, etc.) and SQL Server Enterprise Manager along with a fundamental understanding of relational databases
Experience with the business intelligence tool Tableau.
Proficient with the statistical reporting and analysis programming language R (and Python preferred).
Familiarity with statistical principles, such as standard deviations, normal distributions, and regressions
Familiarity with relational database structures, theories, principles and practices
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.
Ability to translate business needs into practical applications and analyses.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
Ability to complete time-sensitive, multi-dimensional projects as part of a team.
