Cook Children's Senior Strategic Business and Financial Analyst is responsible for reporting and analysis to the leadership and management of the corporate accounting and finance function for a 12-company pediatric health system in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

As the Senior Strategic Business and Financial Analyst, you would be responsible for performing financial, operational, revenue cycle, and statistical analysis, in order to drive operational and financial improvement initiatives by providing recommendations to achieve outcomes that support Cook Children's organization and strategic initiatives.

You will be develop and disseminate key operational & financial benchmarks. This dissemination of data includes presentations to different stakeholder groups and senior executive leadership which will require strong written and oral communication skills. Our Senior Strategic Business and Financial Analyst is expected to show initiative and the ability to work independently. You have to be able to lead large projects and be comfortable coordinating with, and communicating to, all levels of the organization.

You, as the Senior Strategic Business and Financial Analyst, will lead the organizations effort to understand and benchmark against PROSPECT, the Children's Hospital Association's financial and operational data tool. You work closely with Cook Children's Senior Vice President of Finance, and Chief Financial Officer.

You must be able to translate highly technical results to both technical and non-technical customers. You will be expected to demonstrate ability to navigate complex data and be able to consistently validate data for timeliness, reliability, and usefulness.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration (or similar degree) is required.

  • Masters' degree, preferably Masters' of Business Administration (experience in lieu of degree may be considered)

  • Minimum of 5-7 years in healthcare experience is required with, at least, two (2) years providing presentations/recommendations to organizational leaders

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Extensive analytical ability required to evaluate and interpret financial, statistical, revenue cycle, and operational data in order to make sound and objective recommendations for strategic options

  • Ability to evaluate highly complex performance data and determine if objectives are being met. If not, develop and recommend strategic options to improve stated objectives

  • Advance financial acumen and ability to recognize operational deficiencies through data and effectively translate/communicate outcomes and value driven opportunities to leadership

  • hrough understanding of challenges in an integrated healthcare organization including knowledge of operations, legislation, regulatory, and reimbursement

  • Advance knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and SQL with strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Requires a fundamental knowledge of software that supports business and should be proficient within 90 days. Examples include, Lawson, Epic, Strata and other data repositories

The Business Risk and Control team is responsible for partnering with the relevant business group to identify, assess, manage and mitigate current and emerging risk exposures associated with their activities and operations. Monitors, measures, evaluates, and reports on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group and enterprise function. Consults and provides guidance to business groups on the development, implementation, and monitoring of moderately complex business-specific programs to identify, assess, and mitigate risk. Consults and provides support in the interpretation of policy, guidelines, and governance programs as the front line liaison to Independent Risk Management area for moderate to high risk and complexity enterprise risk programs. Provides risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes and controls that mitigate risks and address regulatory requirements. Develops and implements risk monitoring and risk reporting processes and controls. Monitors and reports on its risk concentration, current and emerging risk, and risk appetite. Aggregates, evaluates, reports results and escalates where necessary. Designs and executes control effectiveness assurance programs for Front Line-owned controls. Consults and implements initiatives with moderate to high risk. Internal interface with business regarding risk management of business-specific risk programs. Limited to no external interaction. Does not manage other team members. Responsibilities will include: * Conduct portfolio analyses on CBG customer segments to help define risk baselines and criteria to evaluate, assess and ultimately determine the risk acceptance/rejection or mitigation * Differentiation of ML/TF risk from decision-centric perspective at all stages of the CBG customer life cycle, including: (1) defining transaction patterns for "normal activity" for business sectors; and (2) activity outside or near the outer risk baseline for such business sector; * Assist making risk decisions involving a large bank customer base through use of portfolio analysis on customer segment background and transactional patterns * Using structured and unstructured data elements obtained by other teams to drive portfolio level risk decisions across CBG customer business segments * Draft report findings and recommendations to mitigate risk to management * Trusted advisor as a subject matter expert relative to financial crimes * Partner with several Wholesale financial crimes managers and their peers to evidence strong risk decisions made at the line level. This includes partnering with WFCRC TRIG, who will have the primary responsibility to retrieve and deliver data necessary to perform the above functions. * Performs substantive risk analyses to detect patterns, trends, and anomalies to define AML risk baselines * Collaborate with geographic-oriented peers to help to evaluate and enhance CBG customer risk decisions Team members support our focus on building strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company.
