Role and Responsibilities


A Strategic Analyst is responsible for delivering actionable data-driven insight to management through in-depth business, market, and internal analysis. The ideal candidate is a naturally inquisitive, strategic thinker who can demonstrate creative ways to find and deliver insight. This is a fast-paced position where the candidate will need to deliver across the organization and at varying levels of leadership. This position offers high-level visibility and potential for significant career growth.


  • Lead data-driven efforts and initiatives focused on profitability improvement, growth, and optimization of operations

  • Produce research and analysis on industry and macro trends. Assist in examining strategic issues facing the business and provide recommendation on emerging opportunities

  • Research, write, and deliver industry reports for internal or public consumption, support CAE's thought leadership efforts

  • Work with senior leaders to develop business cases with fully formed market analyses, financial models and recommendations

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual strategic plan and support best practice messaging, slide creation, and presentation style

  • Prepare presentation materials and analysis for senior management meetings, board meetings, conferences and other outside meetings

  • Working closely with senior executives on other special projects, as needed


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management or equivalent combination of experience and studies

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in management consulting, equity research or has been part of leadership rotation program in a corporation

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient at presenting business concepts, structuring business data and models and influencing executive leaders

  • Strong research and financial analysis competency

  • Proficient (Advanced level) with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Strategic mindset with ability to collaborate closely with various functions including Finance, Business Development, Technical teams, and Marketing

  • Organized and detail-oriented with a proven ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects


  • Experience analyzing aerospace and defense, civil aviation and/or healthcare markets

  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools (PowerBI)

  • Experience with financial tools (Bloomberg, CapIQ, Thomson)


  • Complies with and enforces all applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures both at CAE and wherever CAE is represented (i.e., program site, trade show, etc.).

  • Performs all duties in compliance with and enforces all applicable legal and ethical standards including: CAE's Code of Business Conduct, CAE's policies and procedures, country laws and regulations, Federal and States or Provincial Laws, policies and standards.

  • Maintains security of all proprietary information.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or as necessity dictates.


  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.

Responsibilities * Answer business questions "end to end" by translating business questions into ones answered with advanced analytic techniques (statistics, machine learning etc.), create and present documentation of findings back to business leaders with minimal supervision from Analytics Team. * Regularly interact with non technical stake holders to deliver analyses and answer questions on deliverables. * Execute on various aspects of the people analytics strategy using exploratory data analysis and developing or maintaining preditctive models for turnover, recruiting, employee performance, compensation, learning and development, diversity and inclusion, HR operations, and employee engagement. * Cooridinate with HR and Business partners on needs analysis, data collection, prioritization, training and support. * Coordinate with HRIS and technology partners on data mining and collection utilizing SQL, R, Python, Excel, Microstrategy, and other tools for analysis and presentation. Data cleaning, joining, restructuring etc. * Preparation and delivery of analysis and data visualizations that meet the needs of the customers as defined in the needs analysis using Powerpoint, Microstrategy, Tableau etc. * Desire to learn and apply new data science techniques. * Experience with analytics, data pipeline, process automation, or model deployment a plus. Qualifications EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION * Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems, Statistics, Applied Math, Industrial Psychology or related field * 5 + years practical experenience with data processing, programming and/or analytics * Or equivalent combination of education and experience KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES * Business acumen and business problem solving skills * Extensive background in data mining and statistical analysis * Experience with statistical software such as SAS, R, Python, SPSS, or other programs * Strategic thinking skills - seeing the big picture, clarifying strategic objectives, identifying relations, patterns and trends, thinking creatively, analyzing information, and prioritizing actions * Ability to understand various data structures and produce data visualizations * Excellent pattern recognition and predictive modeling skils * Experience creating data visualizations or dashboards using Tableau, Microstrategy, or other programs Gilbane offers an excellent total compensation package which includes competitive health and welfare benefits and a generous profit-sharing/401k plan.
