Overview

The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction among assigned accounts. Works under the guidance of Sales Manager to coordinate, execute and achieve business objectives and strategies within budget.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with assigned accounts and customers

  • Identify and implement "Value-Add" Programs based on needs of account

  • Develop and implement clear strategies for all assigned accounts

  • Work in conjunction with Sales Manager, Region President or sales team and provide feedback when applicable

  • Identifies new business opportunities within accounts and region

  • Schedules and travels to meet with customer in the field as required

  • Advises management of any breakdown in communications, loss of sales contact or service, and insures that corrective action is taken

  • Build relationships with key personnel as required within customers organization

  • Sets individual goals, objectives

  • Budgets time and prioritize activities accordingly

  • Maintains knowledge of company products, policies, procedures, programs, market conditions, and competitor activities.

  • Promote company products, services and upsell to customers

  • Accountable for annual market share and revenue growth as determined by business plan

  • Achieve budgeted sales and gross profit quotas within account assignment within approved level of expenses

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Identify customer inventory management needs and implement Animal Health Technology offerings where appropriate

  • As Assigned

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

  • Excellent verbal, written, organization and interpersonal communication skills

  • An in-depth knowledge of the animal health swine business

  • An excellent understanding of various sales and marketing techniques

  • A sound understanding of good business principles and practices

  • Solid computer knowledge, including MS Office

  • Self-motivated and self-directed

  • Demonstrated history of exceptional performance

  • Must we willing to travel and stay overnight as needed

EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Bachelor's degree in business or agriculture related subject preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years of Outside Sales experience within pork industry preferred

  • Previous experience in animal health or ag product experience preferred

How this role creates value: the job * Works with the CMF sales and marketing organization fostering relationships with key accounts, focusing on uncovering new opportunities and developing custom revenue enhancing offerings * Negotiate and manage implementation of new and existing agreements with individual facilities, IDNs, and Regional GPOs * Provides a single point of contact and consistent support strategy for our supply chain customers * Collaborates with counterparts across the organization to create unique, multi-divisional value propositions and identify opportunities for CMF growth * Continuously looks to improve on current strategy and analytical tools to drive pricing integrity * Together with our customer, work to make healthcare better * Develops plans in accordance with the Director of National Accounts, Sales Directors, and Regional Managers to maximize sales opportunities * Develops and recommends strategic plans with representatives to achieve greater market share/penetration * Provide negotiation support and sales training for the CMF sales organization * Work with our customer, the healthcare provider, to help them deliver a superior level of care to patients What we're looking for: qualifications and experiences * Comfortable working with executive levels internally and externally to grow relationships, identify opportunities, and maximize revenue with key accounts * Must be able to generate and explain detailed forecasts, guidelines, and procedures * Utilizes judgement to resolve non-routine sales issues * Routinely makes decisions that affect immediate sales operations * Prepared to spend up to 50% of time in the field with customers and sales professionals (including some weekends, and some overnight travel) * Attention to detail and quality of work is a must * Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services, including marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques and sales control systems * Comfortability with adapting to new technology and business advancements * Excellent analytical and negotiation skills * Needs to know how to organize a large amount of information * Utilizes information to create a positive experience for customers * Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects * Bachelor's degree required * 4-6 years of related experience in sales, marketing and/or healthcare systems required * Learns from set-backs and develops tactics and strategies to minimize recurrence * "Smart, hardworking, and gets along well with others."
