The Strategic Account Manager position generates revenue by pursuing new business opportunities and building profitable customer relationships within the plan spec and aftermarket distribution channels.

A Big Ass Strategic Account Manager serves as the sales leader for identified distributors, and is accountable for the performance of the distribution partner. Candidates must have the ability to develop a technical understanding of Big Ass Fans products and capabilities and effectively communicate them with distribution partners. The Strategic Account Manager will collaborate closely with sales, engineering, product management, planning, and manufacturing in order to provide customer support through the entire sales process. They will also formulate business strategies and implement plans to grow overall sales revenue and market share within specific accounts, vertical segments and region.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing and driving the success and growth of key accounts by:

  • Developing and articulating effective value propositions

  • Conducting training sessions and ride-alongs with sales reps

  • Presenting lunch and learns and proposals

  • Understanding and articulating competitive positioning

  • Exceeding key business targets for sales, revenue, margins, customer satisfaction and retention, and business development

  • Identify, engage, plan and develop new regional accounts.

  • Coordinate client relationship opportunities such as project proposals, budgeting, service contracts and work orders.

  • Enhance current account and business opportunities by working with regional resources.

  • Inform detailed work status and progress to Sales Director and meet deadlines.

  • Represent and drive company initiatives at conferences and trade associations.

  • Oversee opportunity and lead progression through opportunity pipeline reports.

  • Complete monthly forecast reports determining revenue vs. goal forecasts to inform management on developments.

  • Handle industry partner programs relationships to summon and discuss market and customers.

  • Supervise marketing material and programs relative to region and accounts.

  • Sell target accounts, identify prospects and create new ideas to generate revenue and new opportunities.

Requirements for the role:

  • 5-10 years experience in Account Management and/or Territory Sales.

  • Strong account management and relationship building skills

  • Technical experience and knowledge of mechanical equipment

  • Impeccable communication skills

  • Up to 50% travel

  • Highly self-motivated

A DAY IN THE LIFE: * Expand Medtronic Diabetes current contracted base through key account targeting, driving contract pricing to meet goals and create favorable medical policy for current and future technologies * Create territory plan and individual account plans for top health plans within territory * Retain and develop relationships with external payer customers including C-Suite executives and key stakeholders to build organizational partnerships. * Create the customer value proposition and positioning considering industry, customer and competitive factors to value-based targets. * Deliver innovative programs and solutions within targeted accounts that establish Medtronic Diabetes as the preferred diabetes care partner. * Collaborate and work with sales teams in the use of key opinion leaders to influence and drive utilization of Medtronic Diabetes products/therapies/services and solutions. * Develop partnerships between corporate and field sales management to implement business plan strategies and achieve/exceed AOP goals. * Fosters an open exchange of communication between field sales, enabling functions, and business leaders to drive business opportunities. * Define Medtronic Diabetes' value add/value propositions to partner with Medtronic from a top down and bottom up approach. * Execute on all PACE (Price/Penetration, Access, Collectability and Efficiency) activities with assigned payer customers. * Develop strong relationships with the field sales team including all District Managers (DMs) and Territory Managers (TMs) in assigned territory * Develop and lead field sales on pull through programs to optimize payer mix and contract performance * Support DMs on monthly district calls to educate their teams on payer opportunities * Conduct regular field rides with DMs and TMs to provide support to drive product pull through * Develop multiple call points and relationships within assigned territory to ensure best practice 'opportunity to cash' processes are implemented with payer customers * Organize and implement a Medicaid contracting strategy at a state level to include states that have implemented Managed Medicaid programs * Execute other responsibilities that may be assigned by the Regional Director or Senior Director of Health Plan Solutions team * Responsible for developing, building, and strengthening long-term relationships with stakeholders including physicians, clinicians, specialists, diabetes educators, health service stakeholders and other non-clinical buyers * Responsible for pursuing leads, assessing needs and providing product services to maximize the benefits derived from Medtronic's Diabetes products and/or services * Promotes and establishes physician and account education of the company's products and/or services BEHAVIORS SOUGHT: * Proactive with feedback, cultivates relationships inside and outside organization * Applies creativity and ingenuity to find unique solutions to complex problems * Energetic, self-starter who thrives in ambiguous situations * Drives to results * Quantitatively strong: Drive insights and recommendations based on data BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, THE FOLLOWING BASIC QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME * Bachelor's Degree * Minimum 3 years of progressive sales or equivalent consulting experience * Healthcare industry experience (i.e. medical device, health policy research, consulting, biotech, life sciences, health insurance, or pharmaceutical) * Prior account management responsibilities in one or more of the following: Integrated Healthcare Systems (IHS), Integrated Delivery Networks (IDN), Health Systems, Managed Care Organizations, Payers, or equivalent consultant or complex sales experience. DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Diabetes sales experience and/or detailed understanding of type 1 and 2 diabetes and the therapeutic and diagnostic devices for treatment of diabetes * 5+ years of sales experience or equivalent consulting and/or experience in healthcare * Managed Markets experience * Strong clinical selling experience * Marketing or strategy experience * Superior negotiation skills and influence management skills (proven with large customers) * Strong Strategic and Business Acumen skills * Understanding of P&L and customer financial statements * Proven ability to successfully execute a complex sales process * In depth knowledge of healthcare industry and implications of the Affordable Care Act * Experience in reading, analyzing and writing strategic plans and proposals with customers * Experience/knowledge of Diabetes OTHER DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence and execute in a matrixed environment * Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills – especially executive presence and C-Suite presentation and sales experience * Proven ability to build and facilitate strong, productive working relationships with a wide variety of cross-functional and customer contacts * High degree of flexibility and adaptability in a rapidly changing business/negotiation environment; ability to rapidly acclimate to change and embrace new business opportunities * High performer in current and previous roles * Analytical & problem-solving ability – Ability to analyze data from multiple sources, integrate this information and formulate impactful strategic and tactical plans to drive the business.
